Jungle Japes is a stage that is unlocked from the start of Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is also Donkey Kong's home stage, but you face Young Link and his teammates here in All-Star mode.
The stage is divided into three parts. The right and left sections are about equal in length and are a little taller then the middle section. The middle section is the longest, with a smaller platform suspended above it. This stage may sound simple, but it's actually rather dangerous. Getting caught in the current under the stage is bad and hard to get back on the stage. Be careful not to fall off the edges or you will get caught in the current and most likely won't survive. To make matters worse, Klaptraps will jump out at you if you fall in either pit on each side of the middle section. Getting attacked by one will result in a one-hit KO.
Fun facts
- If you play a Fox CP on this level, after killing him the first time, and moving to the platform on the right and stay there before Fox comes back to life, and he self-destructs over and over and over again by jumping underneath the middle platform and using Fire Fox until either moving, or attacking him. This means he can kill himself up to 98 times in a row on a 99 stock game.
- When pit in a 1 stock match against a Lv. 9 Ness, moving isn't even neccessary for winning.
- When battling Giant Donkey Kong in Adventure Mode with any character, and going to the edge of the platform started in, the B button should be kept pressed when Giant DK is near, and he'll fall through the gap.
- Giant DK will also suicide if standing still at the edge of the same platform using Ness, Pikachu, Captain Falcon and Kirby.
- Cranky Kong is in the house. He can be seen by looking into the window.
