A Smash Taunt is a special taunt that can be done only by certain characters, on certain stages, more specifically the Starfox Characters on the Starfox Stages, and Solid Snake on Shadow Moses Island. In Melee, the Smash Taunt could only be done by Fox and Falco on the Corneria Stage or the Venom Stage.
- Smash Taunts are used by pressing down on the D-pad extremely fast.
- Samus is the only character that has a Smash Taunt that she can use on all stages, although tis is more difficult to perform as you have to press up and down repeatedly very quickly; all other Smash Taunts must be performed by repeatedly tapping the down button quickly over and over until it works.
- Samus' Smash Taunt is the only Smash Taunt that has an in game effect, it switches your character to Zero Suit Samus
