Revision as of 13:00, December 2, 2024

The following content will not have a main universe page since they do not appear in the {{Universe}} navbox, but have their franchises present in NIWA's list of members. In the future, if one of these universes get a minor representation at least and do appear in the navbox, you can use these sections as a base.

The Mystery Dungeon universe (不思議のダンジョン, Mystery Dungeon) refers to the Super Smash Bros. series' collection of properties hailing from the series of roguelike, role-playing games created originally by Chunsoft, now Spike Chunsoft. The player takes the role of a silent protagonist who travels across the world to discover mysterious dungeons; randomly generated rooms who never have the same layouts upon entering into it multiple times, with them accompanied by a group of party members or going alone. Although being popularized by the spin-off series Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, its fanbase can be seen as moderately popular in Japan, and has a smaller following of dedicated fans in the west. Starting as a spin-off of the Dragon Quest series, it eventually grew to include other developers and publishers as it spans to multiple console generations, platforms, and uses both original characters, under the Shiren the Wanderer series, and licensed character as crossovers, including Final Fantasy and Pokémon.
