::Yeah, in the vast majority of circumstances ボウル means "bowl" while ボール means "ball". The cases where it's used as "ball" in the ''Kirby'' series appear to be a unique quirk to it. ~ [[User:StrawberryChan|<span style="color: #e68;">'''StrawberryChan'''</span>]] ([[User talk:StrawberryChan|talk]]) 23:53, August 27, 2023 (EDT)

:::Very belated reply, but the Taranza Ball thing seems to be an outlier. "Snow Bowl" is translated the same way, and the Ball ability and Laser Ball both use the standard spelling, so there's little evidence it's some unique quirk of the Kirby series when those two (and a number of other examples) both use the standard spelling. I'd hazard a guess Taranza's attack is likely intended to be "Taranza Bowl" as well, and was just slightly mistranslated, "Kirby Ball" is anyone's guess, though it very much could just be misromanization. Artwork

IP, please stop edit warring on this. The Super Star artwork was chosen because it matches Marx's appearance in Smash more than the Star Allies artwork. If you read the edit comments, you would know this. Yes, it is against the rules to undo what someone else has undone, but you've already broken that rule anyway. If you want to have a discussion about it, do so here. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 19:08, January 23, 2020 (EST)

Copied and pasted from my edit summary: "Comparing the KSS and KSA designs, the KSS version is actually much closer to the SSBU artwork. Note the smaller mouth, lack of fangs, bowtie texture, and lighter "blush stickers"." The only thing that the Star Allies version has over the Super Star version is being a 3D render; otherwise, the Super Star artwork is more representative of Marx's Ultimate design in every way. Since the anonymous editor has not responded to Serena, and two of us agree on this point, I am going ahead and undoing the edit. --PeabodySam (talk) 22:20, January 28, 2020 (EST)

Regarding "Ice Bowl"

I realize that it's much more common for ボウル to mean "bowl" rather than "ball", but in the Kirby series specifically, there is precedent for it to be used as an alternate writing of "ball"; we have had long discussions about this in the WiKirby Discord. The main precedent we have to go on here is Taranza's attack names in Kirby Star Allies: タランザボウル and スーパータランザボウル are officially translated as Taranza Ball and Super Taranza Ball, respectively. (There's also the Japanese name of Kirby's Dream Course, カービィボウル, which is officially translated as "Kirby Ball" in many sources.) The main piece of evidence against it is Snow Bowl, which is indeed スノーボウル, but is likely intended to be a pun on "snowball" and bowling anyway. Since Ice Ball has no real relation to bowling, and based on Taranza's precedent, it's much more likely to me — and most of the editors at WiKirby — that the intent is "Ice Ball" rather than "Ice Bowl". I just want to say this here to see if it's okay to change without starting an edit war. ~ StrawberryChan (talk) 14:59, August 27, 2023 (EDT)
