Spirits are collectible items introduced in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, replacing collectible trophies from past games. Like trophies, spirits represent various characters, items, and other elements from the many games released by Nintendo and other franchises. They can be equipped to fighters to grant stat boosts and secondary abilities, similar to both stickers and equipment in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4, respectively.
In the base version of Ultimate there were 1297 spirits that could be obtained. More spirits were added through updates and events for a grand total of 1520 as of version 13.0.1. The amount of spirits added, in each type and for each universe, is displayed (when relevant) in a second column after a plus (+) symbol. A third column represents total amount of spirits.
