Swap (チェンジ, Change), officially referred to as Swap to Mythra (ヒカリチェンジ, Hikari Change) and Swap to Pyra (ホムラチェンジ, Homura Change), is Pyra and Mythra's down special move in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It allows Pyra and Mythra to turn into each other, in the same fashion as Zelda and Sheik's Transform in Melee and Brawl.
Overview
Like Transform in Melee, Swap is a very fast switch between Pyra and Mythra that also provides intangibility. Also, unlike Transform and Pokémon Change in Brawl, swapping between Pyra and Mythra does not require the new form to be loaded from the console's cartridge/internal storage/SD card, since the game simultaneously loads the data for both Pyra and Mythra before starting a match.
The move is fairly fast to complete, allowing Pyra/Mythra to act earlier than Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon after Pokémon Change in Ultimate (or even Zelda/Sheik after Transform in Melee), and having no cooldown for each transformation; unlike with Pokémon Change, however, Pyra/Mythra are granted intangibility for a shorter duration, starting from frame 6 instead of frame 1. Additionally, both characters maintain their drift when using the move, greatly circumventing potential momentum loss, especially in the case of Mythra swapping to Pyra.
Both forms have quotes they will say when swapping from one to the other:
- As Pyra
- To Mythra:
- "Switching!"
- "To you!"
- "Mythra!
- From Mythra:
- "Right here!"
- "Got it!"
- As Mythra
- To Pyra:
- "Swap!"
- "All yours!"
- "Pyra!"
- From Pyra:
- "Let me at 'em!"
- "You're done!"

Origin
After both Pyra and Mythra become usable in Chapter 5 of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the player can freely swap between these two forms of Rex's primary Blade during battle to use their unique abilities and special moves, without having to endure any of the cooldown associated with swapping between entirely different Blades during combat. This mechanic was recreated in the context of Smash. The names "Swap to Mythra" and "Swap to Pyra" are directly from the in-game menu prompt that allows the player to swap between them outside of battle.
Additionally, Mythra's "You're done" quote heard when swapping from Pyra to Mythra in Ultimate is a reference to one of the numerous infamous battle voice lines frequently uttered by Ardainian Soldiers at certain points in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Trivia
- In Squad Strike, swapping between Pyra and Mythra does not change their stock icon. Instead, the stock icon always displays the character who started out the match.
