The Match: The Fight For No. 1, or simply The Match, was a series of Super Smash Bros. Melee showmatches hosted by Ludwig on December 15th, 2023. Due to the closeness of their respective seasons and the lack of a major-level event to end off the year, Zain, Cody Schwab, and the Melee Stats team agreed that the winner of The Match would be ranked #1 on the SSBMRank 2023. Additionally, the match of Ludwig vs. NoahJ456 was a money match in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for $20,000, the largest amount for a money match in Smash.
The undercards were first-to-5 and the main match was first-to-10.
