Revision as of 16:00, August 26, 2023
Shine 2023 is an ongoing Super Smash Bros. Melee major and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate superregional held in Worcester, Massachusetts, from August 25th-27th, 2023. This will be the final tournament in the Shine series.
Tournament summary
Super Smash Bros. Melee
At 682 entrants, this is the largest Melee Shine tournament since Shine 2018. It is also one of the largest Shine events for Melee in terms of top talent, with 7 of the most recent ranking's top 10 in attendance.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Despite being the final Shine tournament, this marks the smallest Shine tournament for the most-recent Smash game, with the entrants count not even cracking 400 entrants. The number of top talent attending the event was also noticeably smaller than previous iterations: with Tweek's dropout due to Tera the following week, only 3 of the most recent ranking's top 50 players were in attendance.
