While the tournament has always had large entrant numbers for both Melee and the newest Smash title, it has also become the most prestigious Smash 64 tournament, and is one of the only annual majors for Brawl and (since Ultimate's release) Smash 4. In the past, the tournament has run an event called "Smash Masters", where invited players compete across multiple Smash titles to determine the "best overall Super Smash Bros. player".
