Bolivia is a landlocked country located in western-central South America. Historically, Bolivia's Smash scene was very niche, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U being the start of the Bolivian scene, even if tournaments were pretty scarce starting with tournaments in contention centers to trimestral tournaments within a year. Even with some switches in organization and tournaments, the community drastically changed with the COVID-19 Pandemic. With the inclusion of new players and TOs, the scene grew more as players even traveled across the country and internationally to participate in tournaments across South America. Even if it is still largely grassroots, the Bolivian Smash scene now sees respectable attendance numbers.
There are two distinct regions within Bolivia: La Paz and Cochabamba, each of them having distinctive players and tournament organizers.
The first Ultimate Power Ranking was released in 2019, headed by Catnip in La Paz, and by AlexTheWorst in Cochabamba. As of date, the best player in Bolivia is Perezoso, even having some international recognition getting 1st place at Llama Smash in Argentina, and 5th place at Espacio Gamers Torneo Nacional in Chile. The growth of the scene happened with this new era of Online Warriors mixed with the talent of the Smash 4 players that continued with Ultimate, causing an immense growth of the scene in both size and skill level, even as far as creating and reopening scenes in Santa Cruz and Potosí.
