Banjo and Kazooie Piece Together A Battle!
—Introduction tagline

Banjo & Kazooie (バンジョー&カズーイ, Banjō & Kazūi) are playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. A duo consisting of Banjo and his friend Kazooie, the player primarily controls Banjo, while additional moves and inputs control Kazooie's attacks. Like in the main Banjo-Kazooie series, Chris Sutherland reprises his role as both Banjo and Kazooie.

Attributes[edit]

  • Banjo has three midair jumps with Kazooie's help, and it takes the same animation as his double jump from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.
  • Like Yoshi and Wario, Banjo is a lighter heavyweight, being able to deal a decent amount of damage while being suspectable to combos.
  • Banjo can wall jump and crawl.

Moveset[edit]

Ground attacks[edit]

  • Neutral attack: A two-hit combo consisting of a two paw swipe followed by a swift roundhouse kick. It can be extended into an infinite jab involving Kazooie pecking repeatedly at different angles, and then ending with Kazooie thrusting her beak and wings outwards.
  • Forward tilt: Takes off his backpack and swings it forward. Can be angled.
  • Up tilt: Kazooie thrusts one of her wings upwards. Has decent vertical range and knockback.
  • Down tilt: A legsweep. It can potentially trip opponents and, if used repeatedly in succession, will slowly move Banjo forward.
  • Dash attack: Performs his Forward Roll attack from Banjo-Kazooie.

Smash attacks[edit]

  • Forward smash: Kazooie performs five quick pecks forward. Decent knockback on the last hit. Good KO move.
  • Up smash: Banjo gets in a ready position while Kazooie swings her head upwards in an arc. When fully charged, Banjo performs a spinning kick that covers his entire overhead immediately after, similar to Fox's.
  • Down smash: Banjo gets in a push-up stance while Kazooie spins her wings around in a helicopter-like fashion.

Aerial attacks[edit]

  • Neutral aerial: A sex kick that is very similar to Mario's.
  • Forward aerial: Kazooie claps her wings in front of herself.
  • Back aerial: Kazooie forcefully pecks once behind them. Good knockback, and decent kill move.
  • Up aerial: Banjo performs an uppercut. Acts the same as Ryu's up aerial.
  • Down aerial: Banjo stomps the opponent downwards with both feet. Meteor smashes in the earlier frames.

Grab attacks[edit]

  • Grab: Banjo reaches out with one paw. Average range.
  • Pummel: Kazooie changes between either pecking the opponent or whacking them with the Magic Wrench. Not a fast pummel, but good damage.
  • Forward throw: Banjo throws the opponent forwards with both paws.
  • Back throw: Banjo spins the opponent around multiple times before tossing them away, similar to Wario's back throw.
  • Up throw: Banjo tosses the opponent upwards, then Kazooie pecks the opponent away.
  • Down throw: Kazooie performs a screwing version of the Beak Buster move. Can combo into up aerial at high percents.

Get-up attacks[edit]

  • Floor attack (front):
  • Floor attack (back):
  • Floor attack (trip):
  • Edge attack: Banjo performs his Forward Roll attack.

Special Moves[edit]

Still under construction

On-screen appearance[edit]

Banjo and Kazooie warp fly onto the battlefield with Banjo giving a thumbs-up to the camera.

Taunts[edit]

  • Banjo and Kazooie see a floating Jiggy wave around them, before Kazooie gulps it down, similar to how she gulps it down in the Jiggy Get animation from the original game.
  • Mumbo Jumbo appears and turns Banjo into Washer Banjo, blinks a couple times, and turns back to normal.
  • Banjo takes out their appropriately-themed Nintendo Switch and plays it for a bit while Kazooie watches, before stuffing it back into the backpack.

Idle Poses[edit]

  • Kazooie teasingly taps Banjo on the shoulder a couple times before blowing a raspberry behind his back, leaving Banjo confused.
  • Banjo flexes his muscles in a strongman pose, giving off a cheesy smile while doing so.

Crowd cheer[edit]

  • Ban-jo! Ka-zoo-ie!

Victory poses[edit]

  • Banjo spins a Jiggy on one finger and shows it to the camera while Kazooie tries to grab it from him, but shrugs and gives a thumbs-up.
  • Banjo drives into the area in his Bolt Bucket and performs a couple donuts before saying his infamous "Guh-ha!", with Kazooie making a peace sign.
  • Banjo and Kazooie look up from their beach chair, push their sunglasses down, and raise their coconut drinks in victory. May be based off the good ending of Banjo-Kazooie.

Victory theme[edit]

A slightly toned down version of the last few notes of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts's main theme, which itself is a remix of the main theme from Banjo-Kazooie.
