Nickel City Smash, or NCS, refers to tournaments run by tournament organizer and player Chirka. The series began by hosting Melee and Project M before venturing out into other Smash games. While the frequency of events has slowed, tournaments for Ultimate, Melee and recently Guilty Gear: Strive are held bi-annually. In the past, Nickel City Smash ran Project M, and Project+ brackets at their events with a healthy turnout. Nickel City Smash is the largest regional tournament in Northern Ontario and typically features players from Sudbury's surrounding areas like North Bay, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie, Orillia and Barrie. Throughout it's history, NCS has been hosted at various venues and was originally held at Chirka's apartment from 1-3. 4-10 were hosted at Let's Scrabbalatte, 11-18 were hosted at the Radisson Hotel, and 19-present are being held at the Clarion Hotel.
