The following is a list of all taunts in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Taunts are unique to every character, but with the exception of Pokémon Trainer and Byleth, do not change when selecting an alternate costume.
Banjo & Kazooie
- Up taunt: Banjo stretches and Kazooie appears out of his backpack, yawning. Based on an idle animation from Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
- Side taunt: Kazooie pops out of Banjo's backpack and the duo look at each other, then Banjo strikes a thumbs up while Kazooie happily opens her wings. Based on their introductory pose in the opening sequence of Banjo-Kazooie.
- Down taunt: Banjo bows twice, saying his iconic "Guh-huh!" each time. Identical to the latter half of the animation seen when all 10 Jiggies in a world are collected or when a Note Door is unlocked in Banjo-Kazooie.
Bayonetta
- Up Taunt: Twirls around like a ballet dancer, moves both arms around her in a graceful manner, then strikes a pose with both arms over her head, saying, "If you need to learn how to talk to a lady, ask your mum." (レディの扱い方、ママに教えて貰いなさい, If you can't handle a lady, ask your mum.) Based on her long taunt from Bayonetta 2.
- Side Taunt: Gracefully spins around, then points both guns directly in front of her, saying, "New 'do, dead you." (動くと死ぬわよ, You move, you die.) The quote comes from her short taunt while wielding Salamandra in Bayonetta 2.
- Down Taunt: Poses with her guns around her head in multiple ways, framing her head and torso with her guns, performs a broad back step, looking away from her opponent one moment, then looking back. Based off of the dances she performs prior to fighting Joy for the first time.
Bowser
- Up Taunt: Throws his head back, spinning it in a circle, and roars.
- Side Taunt: Bites the air furiously three times.
- Down Taunt: Balances precariously on one leg, similar to his teetering animation.
Bowser Jr.
- Up Taunt: Jumps up, sits on the edge of the Junior Clown Car, and makes a tiny breath of fire, chuckling. The Junior Clown Car makes a worried expression.
- Side Taunt: Twirls a hammer, or in the case of the Koopalings, their respective wands. The Junior Clown Car makes an embarrassed expression.
- Down Taunt: The Clown Car spawns its wheels and performs a donut, then returns to normal. The Junior Clown Car makes an angry expression.
Byleth
- Up Taunt: Swings the Sword of the Creator to his right leg, and puts his left fist to his chest while looking into the sky. Female Byleth has an altered stance, with one foot in front of the other. Based off of Byleth’s victory pose with a sword equipped.
- Side Taunt: Brandishes the Sword of the Creator forward and says, “Let the lesson begin!” (Male: その身で学べ!, Female: その身で学んで!, Learn with your own body!) or “Stay focused.” (焦らず戦おう, Let's fight without fright.) The former quote is from Byleth’s critical hit quote, while the latter is from when they are selected on the battlefield.
- Down Taunt: Extends the Sword of the Creator around himself and says, “Try me.” (Male: かかってこい, Female: かかってきなさい, Come at me.)
Captain Falcon
- Up Taunt: Charges himself up with fire, similar to a Falcon Punch.
- Side Taunt: Holds out his hand and challenges, "Come on!"
- Down Taunt: Salutes with his right hand and exclaims "Show me your moves!" This taunt is notable for having a different animation depending on whether he is facing right or left; he will finish the taunt faster if he faces the left.
Chrom
- Up Taunt: Twirls his sword and strikes a pose similar to his official artwork from Fire Emblem Awakening while saying "Come at me!" (かかってこい!, Come at me!)
- Side Taunt: Holds his sword in front of him and says "Come on!" (勝負あったな, The match is over.)
- Down Taunt: Twirls his sword and rests it on his palm, saying "I will not fail!" (俺は負けん!, I will not lose!)
Cloud
- Up Taunt: Twirls his Buster Sword and places behind his back, referencing his victory animation from Final Fantasy VII, while saying 興味ないね ("Not interested," his catchphrase from Final Fantasy VII).
- Side Taunt: Places his Buster Sword on his back, places his hands together, and mimics the casting animation from Final Fantasy VII, complete with the sound effect and the glow.
- Down Taunt: Leans on his Buster Sword while scoffing. It resembles the cocky pose he assumes in many cutscenes throughout Final Fantasy VII.
Corrin
- Up Taunt: Puts their head down and puts it back up in dragon form while saying "My path is clear!" (好きにはさせない!, I won't let you have your way!) Female Corrin says "Let's do this!" (行きますよ!, Here I come!)
- Side Taunt: Twirls the Omega Yato and says "I've made my choice." (僕は選んだ!, I've made my choice!) Female Corrin says "Your fate is clear." (折れたりしません!, I will not surrender!) Resembles Corrin's animation before a battle in Fire Emblem Fates.
- Down Taunt: Twirls the Omega Yato over their head and places it on its tip, saying "Are you ready?" (準備はいい?, Are you ready?) Female Corrin says "You ready for this?" (準備はいいですか?, Are you ready?)
Daisy
- Up Taunt: Raises her left arm up while saying "Woo-hoo!". Resembles her official artwork.
- Side Taunt: Spins around once and gives a peace sign, saying "Yeah!" as she finishes.
- Down Taunt: Places her hands on her hips while letting out a small grunt. Resembles her official artwork from Mario Kart 7 and Mario Party 10.
Dark Pit
- Up Taunt: Taps his shoulder with one of his blades and motions with his left hand, saying "Who wants some?" (かかってこい., Bring it on.)
- Side Taunt: Spins his bow in front of him while facing the screen, before swinging one of his blades and saying "Watch out!" (いくぜ!, Here we go!)
- Down Taunt: Turns around a bit, then points with his right blade, saying "Game on!" (死にたいヤツは前に出ろ。。。, Step right up if you want to die...)
Dark Samus
- Up Taunt: Hovers up slightly while glowing with Phazon.
- Side Taunt: Spins around while glowing with Phazon. Based on Rosalina's first place animation from Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
- Down Taunt: Crouches down while holding her arm cannon upright. Resembles Samus's artwork from Metroid II: Return of Samus.
Diddy Kong
- Up Taunt: Throws his cap up in the air and catches it on his head. This is a reference to his victory pose in Donkey Kong Country, after he defeats a boss or wins in a bonus room.

Ganondorf
- Up Taunt: Hovers in mid-air and spins before laughing menacingly.
- Side Taunt: Slams his fist into his open palm and cracks his knuckles, creating dark flames and saying "Heh!"
- Down Taunt: Takes out his sword, looks at it, which emits darkness from the tip, and then puts it back. As Ganondorf is now based off his Ocarina of Time incarnation, he now pulls out his sword from the Space World 2000 tech demo, rather than the Sword of the Six Sages.
Greninja
- Up Taunt: Stands on its hind legs and performs a pose. This is its attack animation from the Pokémon series.
- Side Taunt: Whips its tongue side to side.
- Down Taunt: Holds out its hands, faces the screen, and summons small sprays of water. The sprays can do 1% or 2% damage and produce some knockback, though they're able to KO only at above 420%. A video showing the exact KO percentages at which each character can be KO'd can be found here.
Hero
- Up taunt: Charges in place as a purple aura envelops around him. References the original Psyche Up animation.
- Side taunt: Raises his sword vertically into the air.
- Down taunt: Fumbles in place as a Slime meanders in front of him.
Ice Climbers
- Up Taunt: They set down their hammers and jump for joy. Reminiscent of the end of level animation when successfully grabbing the Condor in Ice Climber.
- Side Taunt: They hold out their hammers and say "Yup!" as wind blows against them.
- Down Taunt: They jump three times in a circle.
Ike
- Up Taunt: Wind blows into his cape as he charges up his sword, grunting loudly.
- Side Taunt: Holds out his sword and says "Prepare yourself!" (覚悟しろ。, Be prepared.) Based off of his pre-fight animation in Radiant Dawn.

Jigglypuff
- Up Taunt: Spins around on one foot, then faces at the screen inflated, saying "Jigglypuff!" (プリプリーン!)
- Side Taunt: Twirls around many times, then strikes a pose. (similar to Kirby's side taunt, except it twirls faster). Performed significantly faster than in previous games.
- Down Taunt: Breathes all the air out of itself and falls to the ground, flattened. It inflates itself upon contact. Similar to its fainting animation in home-console Pokémon spin-offs, such as Pokémon Stadium and Battle Revolution.
Joker
If Arsène is active, he will pose as part of Joker's taunts as well. Morgana does not appear when at least five characters are active.
- Up Taunt: Strikes a pose similar to the one he performs in a Finishing Touch following an All-Out Attack; Morgana appears on his right while fist bumping and saying "Looking cool, Joker!" (行け!ジョーカー!, Go! Joker!)
- Side Taunt: Points his gun forward; Morgana appears on his left with glints in his eyes, laughing mischievously.
- Down Taunt: Turns his back to the screen and poses; Morgana appears on his left, jumping twice and saying "He-hey!" (よぉーし!, Yes!)
Kazuya
- Up Taunt: Crosses his arms and grins while grunting.
- Side Taunt: Demon's Wrath. Starts with a high-angled kick with his left leg, followed by a quick straight punch from his left fist, then a low-angled kick from his right leg, followed by a short punch in front of him with his left fist that launches the opponent. It is the strongest taunt attack in the game and is actually capable of KOing under normal circumstances. Demon's Wrath is a move used by Kazuya since Tekken 4.
- Down Taunt: Transforms into his devil form and roars while spreading his arms and wings out before transforming back to his normal form.
Ken
- Up Taunt: Gives a thumbs up, saying "Yeah!" Based off of his Street Fighter Alpha winpose.

Kirby
- Up Taunt: Raises one of his feet and strikes a pose, producing a star, similar the one he performs when obtaining an ability in a few of his games.
- Side Taunt: Does a twirl, similar to the action he does when selected to play in Super Smash Bros.
- Down Taunt: Leans towards the screen, waves and says "Hi!"
All taunts automatically drop whatever Copy Ability Kirby possessed when activated.
Link
- Up Taunt: Swings his sword, then sheathes and unsheathes it. This is a reference to an animation he performs after learning a Hidden Skill or defeating a boss in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
- Side Taunt: Holds the Master Sword in front of him with both hands. Resembles his stance in the Recovered Memory Shelter from the Storm in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
- Down Taunt: Performs a pose whereby he stands on one leg and holds his sword in an attack position. It is similar to the pose he performs after hitting an enemy with his sword in Zelda II: Adventure of Link.
Little Mac
- Up Taunt: Turns his back to the screen, bends down, then raises his fist triumphantly. Sometimes, Doc Louis will chime in and say "Hit 'em, baby!" (叩け,マック!, Strike, Mac!)
- Side Taunt: Pulls the string of his right boxing glove tight with his teeth, then gets back to his battle stance while scoffing. Sometimes, Doc Louis will chime in and say "Let 'em have it, Mac!" (ぶちかませ,マック!, Hit them hard, Mac!)
- Down Taunt: Performs a series of punches while facing the screen. Sometimes, Doc Louis will chime in and say "Show 'em what you got, Mac baby!" (お前のパンチを見せてやれ!, Show them your punch!)

- Side Taunt: Turns around and sheathes Falchion, saying "I cannot lose!" (負けられませんから, I won't lose from here on.)
- Down Taunt: Puts on, then takes off, the mask she wore in Fire Emblem Awakening when she was in the guise of Marth.
Luigi
- Up Taunt: Performs five quick poses, one after the other. When switching from pose to pose he says, "Ho ha hee hay hoo!"
- Flashes a V-Sign. Bears a resemblance to the Item-Get Pose from Luigi's Mansion.

- Holds his finger under his nose, his eyes looking at the player. This pose is, in some respects, similar to his Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time artwork.

- Assumes a fearful position with his hands on his cheeks, mimicking his artwork from Luigi's Mansion.
- Side Taunt: Stands straight up with hands-on hips, falls forward stiff on the floor, then seems to balance himself back up again. He says something that resembles "Pow pow." This is also one of his victory poses from the Smash games starting with Melee and the pose in his SSB4 artwork when getting upright.
- Down Taunt: Crosses his arms behind his back and performs a small, shy kick, along with a bashful "Hm." If the opponent is hanging on the ledge when used it can K.O any player at any percentage and is impossible to recover from. The kick can damage an opponent if it connects, acting as a meteor smash; in this game, Luigi's taunt is the strongest meteor smash at 0%, due to its fixed knockback. However, its pitiful range and slow startup severely limit its effectiveness. It is similar to his pose when he loses a minigame in Mario Party 2.
Mario
- Up Taunt: Faces the camera, smiles, and gives a thumbs up. This pose most closely resembles artwork from Mario Kart 64, but also various other renders of Mario in a similar pose.

- Down Taunt: Waves her ARMS in alternating circles before assuming a crouching stance with her dominant leg outstretched, and her ARMS raised behind her.
Mr. Game & Watch

- Side Taunt: Jumps up and waves at the camera, saying "Pichu!" This was its left-facing taunt in Melee.
- Down Taunt: Squirms around on the ground, saying "Pichu!" This was its right-facing taunt in Melee.
Pikachu
- Up Taunt: Charges up its cheeks with electricity and glares at the screen, saying "Piii..."

Pyra & Mythra
Pyra
- Up taunt: Rex appears behind her and pumps his fist up, saying "Go, Pyra!" (shouting Pyra's name excitedly if the game's language is set to Japanese). She waves at Rex while giggling. Rex's animation is similar to the one he does while performing a Blade Special in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Rosalina & Luma

- Side Taunt: Puts her hand on her hip, leans back, waves her wand, and says "Mm-hmm"; Luma nods its head.

This directly references the climax of Final Fantasy VII, in which the metaphysical Sephiroth takes this stance against Cloud before being defeated by him (more so apparent with his Coatless costumes).

Toon Link
- Up Taunt: Waves the Wind Waker to that of "Wind God's Aria", conducting a tune at the end, which is the same one heard after completing a song in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
