Creatures, Inc. (Japanese: 株式会社・かぶしきがいしゃ・クリーチャーズ, Kabushiki gaisha Creatures) is an affiliate of The Pokémon Company (which itself is a joint venture by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures).[1] It was founded on November 8, 1995[1] by Tsunekazu Ishihara with assistance of Satoru Iwata, as a successor to Shigesato Itoi's company Ape Inc..[2][3] Creatures is one of the companies responsible for producing and licensing various aspects of the Pokémon franchise, including the Trading Card Game and other merchandise in Japan. Creatures owns one-third of the copyright to the Pokémon franchise (the other two-thirds owned by Game Freak and Nintendo).
