Gameshark is used often in these emulators to allow stuff to be unlocked instantly as these emulators are difficult to save usually while playing online. To solve this, the unlock all characters and mushroom kingdom (to unlock item switch) cheats are switched back off and on at the beginning of the match. Failure to do this usually causes a [[desynch]], as the first player is playing with a different set of codes as the second player and so on.

Using several GameShark codes

The GameShark is a device which is frequently used to hack into SSB, similarly to how the Action Replay is used to hack into SSBM, and access levels such as Final Destination 64 and play as Metal Mario, Master Hand, Giant DK, and a Fighting Polygon.
