Oppose Just because dive kick is a community name or what commentators said doesn't mean that it's more used than stall-then-fall. Even if it's a community name, it would sound awkward and confusing because there are attacks that are not kicks to readers. Sure it can be interchangeable if it were to be all kicks, but with some attacks that are not kicks added, that would be a no. Google has that evidence when I typed character's name (Toon Link, G&W) and put "stall-then-fall" in a search bar. Luigi540 (talk) 01:14, 4 June 2015 (EDT)

Shouldn’t Ridley’s aerial Space Pirate Rush count as a stall-the-fall? It works similarly to Ganondorf’s aerial Flame Choke. DeadHeat16 (talk) 09:58, March 17, 2021 (EDT)

Should we include Bowser's, Kirby's and Yoshi's down B in this article? These moves also stall-then-fall.Timothyung 15:00, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Tis sounds like a good idea. I shall put it in.--Oxico 20:53, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Glitch?

I don't think that the vertical knockback canceling is a glitch. When a character beings a stall then fall, they begin to fall to the ground extremely fast. However, if they have vertical knockback applied, the two would cancel out. Sometimes one is more prevalent than the other. If attempted multiple times, you will see that the character cancels a different amount of knockback depending on when the attack was begun. If done late enough, the character will even begin to fall. Given that it is simply two forces acting against each other in a measurable way, the property can be explained by the game physics system and is therefore by definition not a glitch. I've noticed that if used repeatedly you can be locked in the same spot in mid-air. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.225.51.30 (talkcontribs) 21:25, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Wait a minute...

Since when Ivysaur's up-aerial a StF? It has minimal falling, and no shockwave effect upon landing. I'd like a good reason why that particular attack is mentioned here. Runer5h (talk) 19:23, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Runer5h

Could we restart this discussion please because the Down air stall page claims that the glitch is perform able with it because it is a stall-then-fall aerial? Or should the down air stall page be edited to state that it is perform able with certain non-stall-then-fall aerials?71.165.100.9 20:52, 10 October 2013 (EDT)

Stone

Kirby's down Special. Technically, he stalls to turn into the rock, and then falls faster than normal. Should we add it?Smoreking 2009 is here! 17:07, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, didn't see it there. Okay.Smoreking 2009 is here! 17:12, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Rename?

As of recent, the community has been calling these moves divekicks. Thoughts? --BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 01:38, 2 June 2015 (EDT)

I thought a divekick was like Sonic's DAir: A stall-then-fall minus the stall. Serpent King (talk) 21:20, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
A divekick is any move that plummets the opponent back to the ground with a hitbox. The stall isn't really a stall; it's just an optical illusion from the change in animation.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 22:50, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
Incorrect; the Brawl down aerials of Toon Link, ZSS, and Sonic all explicitly give the user upwards momentum before the downwards blast.
As for the name "divekick", I don't like it as the name of this page because of how many such moves are not kicks. Saying that G&W's key stab is a "divekick" just sounds outright wrong. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Yellow 18:32, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
It's a community name lol. No one says Stall then fall on commentary.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 23:44, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
