#Strong Oppose - Your reasons for wanting adminship aren't very strong. Admins may just be regular users with additional tools, but they hold great responsibility, and simply wanting said tools to have easier access to clean-up on a handful of locked pages doesn't demonstrate that you understand responsibility (your mention of "preferring" becoming a junior admin also shows that you don't even want to have that responsibility.) You have also not shown good experience in dispute handling. Finally, I feel like your opposition to competitive gaming, which indicates both close-mindedness and ignorance, will prevent you from making unbiased decisions concerning coverage of competitive topics on the wiki, or settle user disputes that arise because of that issue. This is an example where you argue in favor of removing the entire Smasher namespace, a crucial part of the wiki, without knowing how these players have contributed to the growth of the Smash series. --Timson622222 (talk) 21:42, 28 November 2014 (EST)

#Neutral leaning to oppose. While I can tell it is well-intentioned, you are often far too quick to decide your own preference is the best way of doing things without even asking for some sort of discussion. It's quite frustrating. On top of that, your frequent misuse of d to mean "thing I don't think we need" instead of "thing that obviously 100% needs deletion" isn't exactly helping your case. #:If you don't mind me saying, Miles, the feeling of frustration is somewhat mutual, and I'd actually been meaning to bring this up on your talk page. You're often quick to challenge a lot of things I do, and though I understand prior discussion should be had for particularly huge changes and that I may have acted too rashly in the past on certain issues, at times it almost feels like you won't approve any of my changes that are even moderately conspicuous unless it's run by you first and I can convince you to let it pass; a Riker and Shelby scenario, if you will. I don't want to make any assumptions or accusations, but I feel like you don't trust me; that you're constantly breathing down my neck and that anything I do has to be weighed with "What problem will Miles have with it this time?" While I understand you're not the only one who's disagreed with me on things, it seems you're often the first, if not only one to do so, and for even fairly innocuous changes that I don't think would otherwise be contested. I imagine this is due to my being a relatively new editor here, and admittedly a small part of my motivation for applying is a hope that having a higher user ranking would alleviate that. #Neutral. I will admit that you are not my first choice as an admin. You don't seem to have a grasp of dispute handling—unless you could provide a case of doing so, but I believe you know the tools (or at least some of them). Nonetheless, I think you could do better as a regular wiki editor, which is why I'm a neutral vote: not an oppose, but not quite a support either. <font face="Marker Felt"><span style="color:#9f4f3f;">Rtzxy</span> <span style="color:#66CDAA;">Reflect!</span></font> 21:30, 21 November 2014 (EST)

:Well, one example is how I attempted to move the "Congo Jungle" entry over to "Kongo Jungle (SSB)" after I felt consensus was reached for the move, although as the destination page already existed as a redirect from the last time this was brought up, I couldn't do a proper move and instead (and I admit this was in error) just did a full-content copy. With adminsistrative abilities, I would've been able to do a proper overwrite and move, leaving the page history intact as required by wiki policy. Due to this, I was told I should "wait for admin to take action" on issues instead of trying to handle it myself; as an admin, I would have that agency. I don't consider myself wrong in attempting the move in the first place (though my method may have been), as I believe consensus was reached with a 7:2 vote and a decline in active discussion on the issue. Was I wrong in that conclusion? VinLAURiA (talk) 19:25, 20 November 2014 (EST)

:Yeah, I think I'll rescind this. I'm kinda shocked - and a little hurt, honestly - that people started strong-opposing based on how I feel about competitive play, though after more thought I understand that access to janitorial tools isn't much justification for admin powers and that I get too invested in disputes to maintain the necessary neutrality for reliable moderation. Still, though... seeing those strong-opposes appearing, I hope my opinion on competitive Smash hasn't soured anyone's view of me; I try to keep my hands off that side of the wiki because I know I'm not very qualified for the topic, so I don't want anyone to think I have any sort of vendetta. Timson's comment in particular had me feeling pretty sheepish afterwards. VinLAURiA (talkcontribsedit countRFA page)

Candidate, please summarize why you are running for adminship below.
I try to do a fair bit of organizational and behind-the-scenes work on the wiki, and I feel like admin abilities would help me do that job more efficiently (ideally, I'd actually prefer just being a junior admin as is currently being discussed, as I don't feel I qualify for access to things like the YouTube or email.) I currently have no means of tidying up prose or organization in locked articles, and as noted in the recent Kongo Jungle move thing, I've been running to problems like trying to move a page to an already-existing name, and it's preventing me from being as proactive as I'd like to be with organizing things. For instance, I've been planning to take a look at many of the screenshot file names and put them into a more consistent naming format like I did with the universe page titles a while back, and I'd like to be able to get that done without running into any name-conflict snags. I've also done some template work like creating the Symbol template and the new SSB4 stage table and would like to see if I can tighten up many of the templates around the site if possible.

Oppose

  1. Oppose Eh. I like your contributions and you understand wikis a lot but I don't think you'll have the right stuff for dispute handling as far as I see. Per Miles and Rtzxy, but I think your just fine as is. Dots (talk) Link OoT Dots.PNG The Half-Life 21:37, 21 November 2014 (EST)
Due to the fact that I'm also hearing complains of ignorance, you lacking knowing what to even do in some parts of the wiki and your dislike and lack of knowledge on competitive play, I don't really see you with trustable admin qualities. I'm sorry but I am going to have to change to a strong oppose. Dots (talk) Link OoT Dots.PNG The Oreo 13:31, 28 November 2014 (EST)
  2. Oppose. I really don't see you in too many disputes, and well... you lack the proper judgement skill. I don't think you would benefit from gaining admin powers; as Miles is saying, you jump the gun on decisions quite often. Qwerty (talk) 16:31, 22 November 2014 (EST)
What about junior adminship then, if that policy gets passed? (This is directed towards both of you.) VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 17:43, 22 November 2014 (EST)
Not that I see you reverting vandalism much, so no, you wouldn't benefit from either. Qwerty (talk) 23:29, 24 November 2014 (EST)
Fair enough on that; I don't really pay enough attention to the changelog to catch anyone. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 00:09, 25 November 2014 (EST)
"While it is not required, a nomination will probably only be passed if the nominee is a rollbacker with good community standing." -SmashWiki:Junior administrators
I feel you wouldn't be the best fit for JA, as you don't have rollback and your community standing is a little questionable, to be honest. While that's not required, it does hinder the possibly of a RfJA passing for you. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 14:50, 29 November 2014 (EST)
A questionable standing? I wasn't aware of that. I know it was pretty visible that I've had some friction with Miles, but I wasn't aware of any wrongdoing aside from that. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 14:54, 29 November 2014 (EST)
The two examples MarioIsTheBest gave kind of hurts your credibility a little, to be honest. Besides, not having rollback is enough to hinder your chances at passing a RfJA. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 14:59, 29 November 2014 (EST)
Aww. I only did those two as a joke since the 3DS version was about to launch in Japan and I was excited... VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 15:11, 29 November 2014 (EST)
All right, but the not having rollback still hinders a successful RfJA. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 15:15, 29 November 2014 (EST)
    Fair enough. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 15:17, 29 November 2014 (EST)
  3. Oppose. Someone who can't even follow the rules to begin with definitely should not be an admin.
take a look at some of his/her edits here: http://www.ssbwiki.com/index.php?title=Template:WikiStatusValue&diff=576105&oldid=575750, http://www.ssbwiki.com/index.php?title=Template:WikiStatusValue&diff=576127&oldid=576124, and there are more questionable actions that this user has done. MarioIsTheBest (talk) 08:50, 28 November 2014 (EST)
  4. Oppose You haven't shown that you can handle disputes and I don't see why you need admin tools. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 13:32, 28 November 2014 (EST)
  5. Strong Oppose - Your reasons for wanting adminship aren't very strong.
I concede I might not have the dispute-handling skills to be an admin, but as an aside, I think I was being very reasonable and civil in that discussion. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 14:44, 29 November 2014 (EST)
  6. You forgot to sign your RfA. Also per Timson and Scr7. DoctorPain99 23:27, 28 November 2014 (EST)

Neutral

  1. Neutral leaning to oppose. Miles (talk) 12:02, 20 November 2014 (EST)
If you don't mind me saying, Miles, the feeling of frustration is somewhat mutual, and I'd actually been meaning to bring this up on your talk page. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 18:56, 20 November 2014 (EST)
  2. Neutral. I've been bugged by this question but, have you ever shown anything about handling user disputes? ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is made in America 11:37, 20 November 2014 (EST)

Have I shown anything? Not that I can remember, but you can always present me with a hypothetical scenario similar to the one you yourself were presented with recently. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 18:17, 20 November 2014 (EST)

May you explain exactly what you would do different if you were an admin than what you do now? Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 19:09, 20 November 2014 (EST)

Well, one example is how I attempted to move the "Congo Jungle" entry over to "Kongo Jungle (SSB)" after I felt consensus was reached for the move, although as the destination page already existed as a redirect from the last time this was brought up, I couldn't do a proper move and instead (and I admit this was in error) just did a full-content copy. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 19:25, 20 November 2014 (EST)
You are not wrong about that conclusion, but would you know how to move it in that situation? In fact, do you know (at least a little) on some admin tools? I have a local MySQL server with a private MediaWiki installation set up on my own computer for use as a journal (needlessly convoluted, I know; I've since resorted to just using Google Drive like a sane person), so I'm not unfamiliar with the admin controls.
