Hitmonlee (サワムラー, Sawamurā, Sawamular in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Creature description

Hitmonlee is a humansized, humanoid Pokémon with two prominent legs. The Pokédex explains that it is also called the Kicking Master. It has legs that freely contract and strech to up to double their length, and uses the springlike legs to bowl over foes with devastating kicks, First-time foes are startled by its extensible reach when it hits the distant foe with a rising kick. It can execute every known kick and can kick in succession from any position thanks to an awesome sense of balance. When kicking, the sole of its foot turns as hard as a diamond on impact to destroy its target. After battle, it rubs down its legs and loosens the muscles to overcome fatugue. When in a hurry outside a battle, its legs lengthen progressively, allowing it to run smoothly with extra long, loping strides.

It is the kicking equivalent to the punching Pokémon, Hitmonchan, and the spinning Pokémon, Hitmontop, and all three share the same evolutionary predecessor: the young, small Tyrogue.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Hitmonlee appears as a Pokémon that comes out of a Pokéball in SSB. Hitmonlee uses Hi Jump Kick as its attack. Hitmonlee will remain motionless for a full second, then it will extend its leg and jump in the air at a randomly decided opponent target to inflict heavy damage and knockback if it connects. Its attack can't harm the summoner.

Hitmonlee's battle cry when released was the source of much debate, as it did not appear to say its name like other Pokemon. Some claim his cry sounds more like Primeape.

Hitmonlee is considered by many to have been replaced by Scizor in Melee. However, Hitmonlee only kicks once, while Scizor strikes multiple times.
