Question on the difference between semi-professional and professional?
I noticed you changed RockstarAce to semiprofessional. That doesnt bother me or anything, but i wanted to get a little clarification for when I make future pages.
RockstarAce got 17th at an A tier and 49th at an S tier. Those peaks seem consistent with other players marked professional (say John Numbers or Acestarthe3rd) but unlike John Numbers his drop offs are pretty severe. And he doesnt always consistently place at the top at locals .
Is consistency the difference or is there something else I should be looking for when putting them in a category.
Thanks again for all the help, and sorry for any messes I've made on the pages. Wiifitkid (talk) 09:05, April 6, 2020 (EDT)
- Not NPM, but I generally look at the national tournaments to determine whether "professional" or "semi-professional" fits better. Generally, if there's a good placement at the stacked tournaments it warrants the professional status (say, 65/3,534 is better than 65/160). On the other hand, if the player consistently places well at regionals, then the smasher deserves the professional status. Finally, top player wins also show that the Smasher has potential to defeat some of the best, so if a player has several PGR player wins outside of locals, I believe they deserve the status.
- The main difference that JN and Ace have with RockstarAce is that they have better consistency, whether it's on a national or regional level. RockstarAce's national placements range from 17th to 385th and do tend to be on the weaker side, and his regional placement is limited but workable. I did take a look at the more local results and RockstarAce seems to do pretty fine locally, plus he has wins over some PGR players, so I don't see a big problem giving him a professional status, although this is a more borderline case imo. Thanks that helps a lot. Wiifitkid (talk) 15:08, April 7, 2020 (EDT)
Specific location
Some smashers (like Chexr) have specific location of city and state, and some (like Seven) have only their country's name. What defines if player gets the former treatment? 46.229.158.109 13:02, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
- If Seven's exact location is found, we can easily add the city name to the infobox, otherwise, it will just stay as Japan. There aint any actual limitations. Naughty🐽GRAND DAD 自閉肥宅 13:07, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
- Also, some people don't want their exact locations revealed. In those cases, only the state or region is covered. CookiesCreme 13:09, May 3, 2020 (EDT)

Some english smashers have England flag and some have the UK's. Which one is correct? If first, does it apply US states flags as well? 46.229.158.109 10:18, May 8, 2020 (EDT)
- From what I believe, if the English smasher exact location is unknown, they the UK flag is used. If we know the smasher's city is England then we usually use the England flag, unless the smasher requested to hide the city. Yeah these probably applies to other countries as well. But for US isnt there only 1 USA flag? Naughty🐽GRAND DAD 自閉肥宅 10:27, May 8, 2020 (EDT)
- Like UK they have. If other big regions have them, i propose adding them too 46.229.158.109 11:02, May 8, 2020 (EDT)
- The US is different than the UK. The 50 states are not separate countries - despite having their own government - and are all represented under the US flag. The UK is basically a country of countries; England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are countries but are part of the country of UK.
- I use the flags of the individual countries instead of UK since I believe those are more accurate. They are from that country, and as such should be represented with that flag. CookiesCreme 11:02, May 8, 2020 (EDT)
