- Ultimate is updated to version 5.0.0. In this update, Banjo & Kazooie were added, as well as Spiral Mountain, several Mii costumes, and Home Run Contest.

- In a Nintendo Direct, Banjo & Kazooie were confirmed to release after the Direct, and Terry from Fatal Fury was announced, with a tentative release date of November 2019. In addition, more DLC characters outside the Fighter Pass were announced to be in development.

- At 2GG: SwitchFest 2019, kameme, Tea, and Kome take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Ultimate singles. MVD & Puppeh take Ultimate doubles.

- At Shine 2019, Samsora, MkLeo, and Nairo take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Ultimate singles; Hungrybox, S2J, and iBDW take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles; Robert takes 1st place in Smash 64 singles. Dark Wizzy & MkLeo take Ultimate doubles; Mew2King & Plup take Melee doubles; Stranded & Shalaka take Smash 64 doubles.
