Classic Mode is a mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl that serves as the successor to the 1P Game in Super Smash Bros. The two modes are virtually identical in order; however, certain changes have been made. In the original, you fought in a predetermined order: you would always fight a specific character at a certain stage in a fixed order under static conditions).  In Melee, randomization elements were introduced - the battles and the order in which they are take place are, for the most part, completely random (other than the basic layout, which is elaborated upon in the below section).  Additionally, the Board the Platforms bonus game has been removed, instead replaced by Snag the Trophies.

Interestingly, Classic Mode (in Melee) is actually shorter than the 1P Game in the original.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the fights are organized by series. The first level pits the player against a character from The Legend of Zelda series. Special battles in which the status of your enemies have been altered (ex: Giant battles) will also return.

Classic mode is a default single player mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This mode follows the same format as the one player mode in Super Smash Bros. However, it has more variation and a random factor to it since most of the characters and stages are chosen at random. Completing Classic Mode will earn you a trophy replica(classic trophy) of the character you are playing as.

1. Standard one on one match.
2. Two on two match (the player is given a random ally to help them complete the match)
3. Break the targets bonus stage.
4. Standard one on one match.
5. Three on one match (the opponent is a giant and the player is given two random allies to help them complete the match).
6. Snag the trophies bonus stage.
7. Standard one on one match.
8. Ten on one match (the player is alone against a team of ten lightweight fighters that are easy to KO).
9. Race to the finish bonus stage.
10. Standard one on one match against a random metal character. This match always takes place on the Battlefield.
11. Master Hand battle on the Final Destination. If you are playing on normal or higher, finished in 15 minutes or less, and reached this stage without continuing, Crazy Hand will come out to aid Master Hand when Master Hand is half health.
