This is a list of known changes in version 3.0.0 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Universal

The new update brings new features on the general gameplay side:

  • Change Perfect shields will no longer activate multiple times when the shield button is released once. This was creating more downtime than a single perfect shield.
  • Nerf Dodges are more punishable when staled.
  • Buff Parrying against a projectile has less ending lag.

Mario

  • Buff At the start of Mario Finale, nearby opponents will be slowed more, and for longer.
  • Nerf Fireball deals less shield damage.

Donkey Kong

  • Buff Giant Punch has more range, no longer missing opponents up close.

Kirby

  • Buff Up smash's clean hit has a longer duration, with the late hit having a shorter duration instead (frame 12 (strong)/13-14 (mid)/15-17 (late) → 12-14/15-16/17).
  • Buff Neutral aerial has less ending lag (FAF 63 → 55) and auto-cancels earlier (frame 56 → 51).
  • Buff The first 9 hits of down throw deal more damage (0.8% → 1%, total: 10.2% → 12%).
  • Buff Kirby is less likely to lose Copy Abilities received by Inhale when getting hit.
  • Buff Final Cutter can snap to the ledge earlier (frame 36 → 33).

Pikachu

Ness

  • Buff PK Flash has a larger attack range
  • Nerf Ness's yo-yo smash attacks have less charging time and has a shorter duration, no longer capable of breaking opponent shields at the edge of the stage.

Jigglypuff

  • Buff Puff Up is easier to push enemies with.

Peach

  • Nerf Toad no longer stalls continuously in the air after the first use.
  • Nerf Vegetable deals less shield damage.
  • Nerf Peach Blossom has a reduced sleep time period.

Daisy

  • Nerf Toad no longer stalls continuously in the air after the first use.
  • Change Vegetable's knockback values match those of Peach's Vegetable (30 (base), 35 (scaling) → 25/45).
  • Nerf Vegetable deals less shield damage.
  • Nerf Daisy Blossom has a reduced sleep time period.

Bowser

Ice Climbers

  • Buff Iceberg via the FS Meter has higher knockback.

Sheik

  • Buff The neutral infinite's finisher has less ending lag.
  • Buff Down tilt's tipper hitbox is easier to land.
  • Buff Forward aerial has more range.
  • Buff Needle Storm can be charged faster.
  • Buff Charged Needle Storm is much harder to parry, as each needle must now be manually parried as opposed to every needle after the first being automatically parried.

Zelda

Dr. Mario

  • Nerf Megavitamin deals less shield damage.
  • Buff At the start of Doctor Finale, nearby opponents will be slowed more, and for longer.

Pichu

  • Nerf Thunder Jolt deals less shield damage.
  • Nerf Pichu has altered animations during aerial hitstun and when landing, making it easier to be hit.

Marth

  • Buff Dash grab has more range.

Lucina

  • Buff Dash grab has more range.

Young Link

Ganondorf

  • Nerf Ganondorf has altered animations during aerial hitstun, making him easier to be hit.

Mewtwo

  • Change Mewtwo's weight has been increased.
  • Buff Neutral attack 1 is faster.
  • Buff Forward tilt deals 1% more damage, with knockback compensated.
  • Buff Up tilt deals 1% more damage, with knockback compensated.
  • Change Up tilt's tip hitbox has an altered angle.
  • Buff Forward smash has increased range.
  • Buff Up aerial deals 1% more damage, with knockback compensated.
  • Buff Edge roll grants more intangibility.
  • Buff Edge attack has increased range.

  • Buff Grounded Flare Blitz can more easily hit enemies below it.

  • Buff Up aerial deals more damage (6% → 7%), with its knockback compensated.

  • Buff Super Sonic has more range.
  • Buff Super Sonic via the FS meter has more range and has higher knockback.
  • Bug fix Spin Charge no longer loses his double jump when performed on platforms.

  • Nerf The interaction of Header's soccer ball with stage collision was fixed, removing several setups.
  • Buff Deep Breathing's effect lasts longer when successful (9.8 seconds → 13).

  • Buff If Luma is close, Luma will move in front of Rosalina when using a reversed down tilt or forward tilt.
  • Nerf Luma Shot deals less shield damage.
  • Nerf Star Bits deal less shield damage.
  • Buff At the start of Grand Star, nearby opponents will be slowed more, and for longer.

  • Buff Dragon Ascent grants more intangibility (frames 10-17 → 7-17), connects more reliably and the final hit deals more knockback.
