This is a list of known changes in version 3.0.0 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Universal
The new update brings new features on the general gameplay side:
- Perfect shields will no longer activate multiple times when the shield button is released once. This was creating more downtime than a single perfect shield.
- It is easier to punish dodges if they are used too excessively.
- The downtime of a parry against a projectile has been reduced.
Overall, there is one nerf that has come back most often, it's the reduction of the power of some attacks against the shields. This could make the attack that was nerfed less effective against the shield of his opponent but much more motivating the player to create combos that can destroy them.
Mario
- At the start of Mario Finale, nearby opponents will be slowed more and slowed longer.
- Fireball has reduced power against shields.
Donkey Kong
- Giant Punch has increased attack range.

- Arrow has reduced power against shields.
Samus
- Charge Shot has reduced power against shield.
Dark Samus
- Charge Shot has reduced power against shield.
Yoshi
- Egg Throw has reduced power against shield.
Kirby
- Up smash's clean hit has a longer duration, with the late hit having a shorter duration instead.
- Neutral aerial has less ending (FAF 63 → 55) and auto-cancels earlier.
- Down throw deals more damage.
- Kirby will keep Copy Abilities received by Inhale longer.
- Final Cutter can snap to the ledge earlier.
Pikachu
- Thunder Jolt deals less shield damage.
Ness
- PK Flash has a larger attack range
- Ness's yo-yo smash attacks have less charging time and has a shorter duration no longer capable of breaking opponent shields at the edge of the stage.
Jigglypuff
Peach
- Vegetable has less shield damage.
- Peach Blossom has a reduced sleep time period.
- Toad no longer stalls continuously in the air after the first use.
Daisy
- Vegetable knockback has been changed to match Peach.
- Vegetable has less shield damage.
- Daisy Blossom has a reduced sleep time period.
- Toad no longer stalls continuously in the air after the first use.
Bowser
- Opponents can no longer tech on the ground between the looping hits of grounded Whirling Fortress.
- The T-Pose glitch involving Superspicy Curry and Screw Ball has been fixed.
Ice Climbers
- Iceberg has more knockback with the FS Meter.
Sheik
- The neutral infinite's finisher has less ending lag.
- Down tilt's tipper hitbox is easier to land.
- Forward aerial has more range.
- Needle Storm can be charged faster.

- At the start of Doctor Finale, nearby opponents will be slowed more and slowed longer.
- Megavitamins have reduced power against shields.
