Back aerial (abbreviated "bair"/"b-air"/"BAir" or "ABA") is an aerial attack that is performed by pressing the A button and back on the control stick. Notable back aerials include:
- Ness and Zelda's back aerials are powerful semi-spikes. Zelda's bair semispike can only be achieved by hitting with the sweetspot at her toe.
- Marth and Roy's back aerials, which allow the character to turn around while still in mid-air. These are the only aerial attacks able to do so.
- Jigglypuff's back aerial, which is her bread and butter attack and is used for the Wall of Pain.
- Kirby's back aerial is an attack similar to Jigglypuff's back aerial but this one has no start-up lag and is called Fence of Pain.
- Toon Link's back aerial comes out fast with low knockback. It's great for positioning your opponent for an immediate down aerial
