Article on Bulbapedia Raichu (Pokémon)

Raichu (ライチュウ, Raichu) is a Pokémon.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

As a Poké Ball summon

He rides his tail and rushes the enemy. Since he moves freely around the stage, Alolan Raichu may be a bit difficult to dodge.

Raichu appears in his Alolan Form as a Pokéball summon. Using his tail to surf around the stage, he attacks opponents in its path with electricity. It is possible it may be using its Z-Move Stoked Sparksurfer.

Raichu is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Red Version, Green Version, and Blue Version. It is the evolved form of Pikachu, and, in Pokémon Gold Version and Silver Version, became the final evolution of the Pichu evolution line.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, several Generation I Pokemon received variations to accommodate for Alola's climate — among those was Raichu, who received an Electric/Psychic-type variation. Alolan Raichu has a tendency to use its tail as a makeshift surfboard while using its psychokinetic powers to float. Interestingly, this may be a callback to how Pikachu could learn Surf in Pokémon Stadium, and how evolving it into Raichu would also make it use their tail as a makeshift surfboard.

Trivia

  • Raichu is the first Poké Ball summon to be in the evolutionary line as a Pokémon playable in the same game, in this case both Pikachu and Pichu.
