Inkling (インクリング, Inkling) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Although the default form is female, both male and female forms of this character are playable.
Attributes
- Some of Inkling's attacks use up and apply ink. Characters that are painted with ink take additional damage. However, certain attacks use up some of the ink in the Ink Tank, which can be replenished by pressing "B" while using the Shield. If Inkling's ink levels are too low, many moves will deal less damage and certain specials will have no effect at all. However, mobility is greatly increased and Super Jump launches tremendously higher with less ink.
- When Inkling is inside the Ink Tank, she can recover health at a pace.
- Inkling will transform into squid form while dashing and dodging.
Moveset
Ground attacks
- Neutral attack: A two-hit combo consisting of a quick finger jab then a kick, followed by a rapid series of spurts from the Splattershot that concludes with a single blast that launches the enemy. The rapid jab covers the opponent in ink.
- Forward tilt: Swings the Splattershot horizontally ahead.
- Up tilt:
- Down tilt:
- Dash attack: A lunging elbow strike after transforming back into humanoid form from squid form.
Smash attacks
- Forward smash: Swings the Inkbrush.
- Up smash: Fires a burst from the Blaster above Inkling's head. There is a hitbox next to Inkling that launches the enemy above her before the shot goes off, setting the enemy up for the attack.
- Down smash: Empties out a Slosher on either side of herself, starting with the front then the back.
Aerial attacks
- Neutral aerial: A spinning kick that hits on either side of herself.
- Forward aerial: Dropkicks ahead of Inkling.
- Back aerial: Swings the Splattershot straight behind herself.
- Up aerial: Two spinning kicks that swing in an arc above herself.
- Down aerial: Swings the Splattershot straight below herself.
Grab attacks
- Grab: Reaches out to seize the opponent.
- Pummel: Stomps the grabbed opponent.
- Forward throw: Fires the Splattershot directly at the opponent, angled diagonally upwards.
- Back throw: Transforms into her squid form, then spins and tosses the opponent behind Inkling with their tentacles.
- Up throw:
- Down throw: Slams the opponent head-first into the ground with one hand.
Get-up attacks
- Floor attack (front):
- Floor attack (back):
- Floor attack (trip):
- Edge attack: Swings the Splattershot.
Special attacks
- Neutral special: Fires the Splattershot a medium distance. Inkling cannot move while firing. This attack can be angled and covers foes in ink. The projectiles will cause hitstun on nearby enemies but will only push foes that are further away.
- Side special: Pushes a Roller along the ground, covering it in ink. Enemies move slower while on the ink. Enemies hit by the Roller while on the ground are Buried.
- Up special: Performs the Super Jump, a move that causes Inkling to transform into their squid form before launching themselves upward. The trajectory of the jump can be angled slightly to either side. The Super Jump deals damage both while launching into the air and while coming back down.
- Down special: Throws a Splat Bomb that bounces off of the ground and foes before detonating. Tapping the button will slowly lob it a short distance, and holding down the button will quickly throw it a greater distance.
- Final Smash: Inkling brings out the Killer Wail, aiming it directly forward. After a brief delay, the supersonic weapon unleashes a beam that launches enemies after trapping them in the damaging beam. The Killer Wail behaves similar to Samus's Zero Laser, but allows Inkling to move and attack while it goes off.
