- For Snake's attack, see Remote Missile.
The Missile is a special move that can be done by Samus, by pressing forward and B simultaneously. There are two types of missiles, regular and homing. The regular missiles have a blue trail, and are quick. They are much more powerful than the homing missiles, and have much higher knockback. Homing missiles are done by holding forward and then pressing B. Homing missiles, as the name would imply, home in on their target. They will home in on any enemy in the direction that Samus fires, to a certain degree, and do not not adjust their vertical alignment well. They are relatively slow, and have almost no knockback.
In Brawl, Homing Missiles are rocket-shaped with a purple nose as normal Missiles typically appear in the 2D Metroids. Super Missiles take on their fatter, green tipped form as seen in Super Metroid and Zero Mission.
In the Metroid series
Missiles are a standard weapon for Samus in her games, coming in variates such as Super Missiles and Ice Missiles. Late in most games, Samus would have to depend of having a large supply of missiles as they were the only way to deal damage to some bosses.
