- Super Smash Bros. 5 was announced. Sakurai shortly assassinated by the Melee Conspiracy. Riots broke out with Brawl, Smash 4, Smash 5 and even Smash 64 fans against Melee fans, although all the fans of the five games eventually teamed up to fight a bigger threat, Project M Social Darwinists.

- At Nintendo Gaming Championship: Masahiro Sakurai, Reggie Fils-Aimé, and ZeRo take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles, and Masahiro Sakurai & Bill Trinen win Super Smash Bros. for Wii U doubles.

- Version 1.03 of Super Smash Bros. Melee has been released. The new release patches exploits such as Wavedashing, L-Canceling, and Ledge Teching. The Debug menu has also been removed.

- At 2GGT: FOW Saga: Nairo, Larry Lurr, and Tearbear take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles, and FOW & Nairo win Super Smash Bros. for Wii U doubles.

- Battle of the Five Gods concludes, with Hungrybox, Mango and Armada taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles.
