- The first official SSB4 tier list is released.

- At PAX Arena, ZeRo, VoiD, and Vinnie take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles, and Hungrybox, Mango, and Westballz take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles. Anti & Mew2King and SFAT & Shroomed win Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Melee doubles, respectively.

- At Niconico Tokaigi 2016, Abadango, Nairo, and Komorikiri take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles.

- As part of the Niconico Tokaigi 2016 livestream, demo gameplay of Corrin and Bayonetta, the final DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. 4, is shown, as well as an announcement that they, alongside the sixth and final wave of Mii Fighter DLC costumes and the new stage Umbra Clock Tower, will be released on February 3rd.
