The Beam Sword is a combat item appearing in all [[Super Smash Bros. series|Smash Bros. games]] which is a sword made of light. This item is heavily based upon the lightsaber from the Star Wars film franchise, and in [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl|Brawl]] its resemblance is even more striking. The original [[Super Smash Bros.]] game even included the Star Wars sound effects of the weapon. The item works the same in all three games as a close range weapon for attacking opponents and smashing them off the stage.
