Pokémon Trainer is a usable character confirmed to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The Pokémon Trainer first appeared as the protagonist in the Game Boy games Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Pokémon Trainer's default name in his games is Red, but in SSBB, it is Pokémon Trainer. Actually, this Pokémon Trainer is from the Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen games.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pokémon Trainer will not fight directly. Instead, the player will alternate between three different Pokémon; Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. These three Pokémon are (evolutions of) the three starter Pokémon in Pokémon Red and Blue. Squirtle is the basic form of his evolution process, while Ivysaur is the first evolution and Charizard is the final form of their respective evolution lines.

Special Moves

Note: All of Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon have the same Down B move, Pokémon Change. When used, the Pokémon Trainer will call back the current Pokémon, and send out the next. They are always released in the same order, Squirtle first, Ivysaur second, then Charizard last. If Pokémon Change is used while Charizard is fighting, you'll switch back to Squirtle.

Final Smash

Main article: Triple Finish

The Pokémon Trainer's Final Smash is called Triple Finish. Any of his Pokémon can get the Smash Ball. The Trainer Calls out all three Pokémon, and they unleash their ultimate attacks at the same time. Squirtle uses Hydro Pump, Ivysaur uses Solarbeam, and Charizard uses Fire Blast. The closer foes are to the Pokémon, the more damage is dealt. A Pokémon style text window also appears at the bottom of the screen saying phrases like "IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!"

Selection

Pokèmon Trainer's starting Pokèmon can be chosen by clicking on it before the start of the match. When a Pokèmon gets KO`d (or faints), the next Pokèmon spawns on the KO platform.
