Bowser Bomb (クッパドロップ, Koopa Drop) is Bowser's down special move. If Bowser is in midair when using this move, he slams to the ground with a butt-stomp. If he's on the ground doing this, he will leap forward diagonally before performing the butt-stomp. Unlike Yoshi, whose Yoshi Bomb will produce disruptive stars upon landing, Bowser will not emit any kind of shockwave upon impact, though he produces small, weaker hitboxes at both of his sides for a moment. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Bowser gains some super armor and can lightly damage enemies with his head at the start-up of the move. Note that in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this move can be used to combo opponents. The diagonal jump when used on the ground deals 4% damage, with diagonal knockback that links onto the next hit, then the landing deals 20% damage. The small "shockwave" at Bowser's sides also deals 8% damage with minimal vertical knockback, though it can't stack up with the other hitboxes.
The Bowser Bomb is also good for edgeguarding. If Bowser does it in the air and just brushes the edge, he will grab on making good for edgeguarding. This technique is good to use on people trying to recover. Also by doing this, instead of suffering lag from landing on the ground, the player can just grab the edge. Bowser can also use it on someone who is hanging on the edge and he will knock them off it and he will grab on instead. It is unsure whether the player has to hold the direction on the analog stick according to what side the edge is on or if they can just Bowser Bomb and he will automatically grab on. In Melee, CPUs often use this move to attack foes below them when airborne, or when on a higher part of a slope.
This special attack is shared by Giga Bowser, both in his boss appearance in Melee and in his playable appearance in Brawl. Giga Bowser's variation on the move also features a glitch.
Bowser does not get any freeze frames when he hits someone while falling.
Customization
Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the known variations:

Edge-canceled Bowser Bomb
An edge-canceled Bowser Bomb happens when Bowser uses this move on an edge (while facing the appropriate direction). The animation and momentum of the Bowser Bomb is canceled out by the action of Bowser grabbing on to the ledge.
Origin
The move is based on Bowser's attack pattern in Super Mario Bros. 3. Bowser also makes a similar move in Super Princess Peach and Super Mario Galaxy, as well as Super Paper Mario, though all three of these games were made after Melee. In Super Mario Bros. 3, this move was used by Bowser on the final battle, where he jumped diagonally forward and did a ground-pound while facing the screen (which he also does in the Smash games), breaking bricks below him. To beat him, Mario had to make Bowser break all bricks on an area with the move, causing him to fall downwards onto a pit.

Trivia
- Unusually, while CPUs in Melee rarely shield physical attacks, they have a special programmation for dodging Bowser Bomb at all costs: when using this move against a CPU, it will always roll away, or air dodge when airborne. A similar thing happens with his up smash, where CPUs will always air dodge, or roll persistently back and forth when used below a CPU on a platform.
