Origin

X was created by Dr. Light as a powerful robot with human-level capacities, and not bound by the rules of robotics as was the original Mega Man. He and Zero were the first of the robots with this level of free will, known as Reploids. X's role as a Maverick Hunter entails defeating rogue Reploids known as Mavericks.
