The following is a list of unlockables a player can obtain in Super Smash Bros.

Unlockable characters

Character How to unlock
Jigglypuff Beat the 1-player mode with any character on any difficulty level
Captain Falcon Beat the 1-player mode with any character on any difficulty level in less than 18 minutes
Luigi Beat Target Test with all 8 starting characters in either 1-player mode or as Bonus Practice 1
Ness Beat the 1-player mode with 3 stock, on normal difficulty, with any character, without continuing
