How to Play is an archive movie in Super Smash Bros. 4 that teaches the player basic techniques on how to play the game.

In the 3DS version of the "How to play" video, Mario and Bowser are shown to fight on Battlefield Ω.

Walking and running
Jumping
Performing standard attacks (neutral attacks), strong attacks (tilts), and smash attacks with the Attack button
Using special moves with the "Special" button
Shielding
Rolling
Dodging
Grabbing
Activating a Final Smash with the "Special" button

This video uses an updated version of the music in the "How to Play" video in Super Smash Bros. Melee which had been previously featured in the "How to Play" video in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Similar to Brawl's "How to Play" video, specific buttons are not mentioned, with the video naming buttons as "attack", "special", and "shield". However, the Nintendo 3DS only provides one control option, contrary to its Wii and Wii U counterparts.
