Crushing refers to an elusive method to be KOed, appearing only in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Being crushed involves the player's character being unable to move out of the way of two solid platforms that move into each other; if players are unable to flee from the common collision point of the two platforms, then they will be crushed when the two platforms meet.

Crushing remains one of only two ways of being KOed without being sent past a blast line, the other being depleted hit points in Stamina mode.

Stages that feature crushing

Almost all methods to being crushed are featured in Brawl's Subspace Emissary.

Outside of these stages, only one versus stage in all of Brawl features crushing: Pirate Ship. If players jump onto the rightmost edge of the island before the ship crashes into it, they can be crushed by the collision between the island and the ship.
