Substitute in Generation I.
Substitute is a move in the Pokemon series since the first Generation. When used, the Pokémon loses 25% of its remaining HP, and leaves the screen, replaced by a doll; the substitute. The substitute shares the original Pokémon's stats and typing. When a substitute takes the amount of damage needed to defeat the original Pokémon, it fades away. It is considered a "Normal" type move and has 10 PP.
