Round 166: Link vs. Samus

The two arsenal-toting adventurers of legend are back. While one fights at close range and the other prefers distances, they aren't exactly slouches in the other's department, and they both have the tools to cleave through enemy forces like paper. How will this tiebreaker end?

While both Link and Samus are viable in Melee (being lenient on the definition of viable), Samus is a much better characters having an infinitely better recovery and zoning abilities. Those missiles are so very annoying. She is really hard to edgeguard; even Marth has to work for those gimps. Link dies after 1 down tilt. But if you kiddies must insist on talking about brawl, Samus still wins. She has a high tier counterpart with items to start the match as well as a long glide toss to complement them. Since then, that title has been given to battlefield, but this stage is still one of my favorite counterpicks when Yoshi's Story or FD is banned. I'm a little uncertain when I counterpick this stage against Space animals, but I think Marth goes even against them on this field. There is enough room in the middle to chain throw them and the platforms are low enough like Yoshi's Story such that I can trap them with up tilts and up airs. --BrianDon't try me! 14:11, 9 December 2012 (EST)
Comments You know, Mid-Air stadium is just FD with a different background. Round 169: Frozen vs. Buried

Earthy and icy impediments clash. Is a cage of cryowater or the grip of ground the favoured status?
Votes for Frozen I pick Frozen. Offensively, it's not as impressive, as burying your opponents basically earns you a free KO whereas KOing an opponent with a freeze attack is situational at best (especially if Freezie is turned off; Freezie's utility is more limited than the Pitfall's but at least when it makes contact it can KO). Defensively, well, I'd much rather be Frozen than Buried.
