- Not to be confused with Ike's side special, Quick Draw.
Quickdraw, or QD'ing, is a technique that Link or Toon Link uses with their neutral special move, Bow, to shoot an arrow just as they land on the ground. This will cause the arrow to be shot very quickly with no landing lag. There are several applications with this that greatly increase Link/Toon Link play. The player can also use this technique with Kirby if he copies Link or Toon Link with Inhale.
How to do a quickdraw
To do a quickdraw, just simply jump, then right before the character hits the ground, tap the special button. The player can short hop instead of jump.
Applications with Toon Link
Note: All applications should be short hopped for speed.
Toon Link is benefited more from QD'ing than Link and has more use for it in competitive play.
Bomb and Boomerang
A very quick and useful technique is SH Bomb or Boomerang to QD. To do either of them, just short hop and quickly press either side special or side attack (if a Bomb is pulled out already). If done quick enough, the player should be able to tap the special button just as they land for a quickdraw. This is very useful for comboing as well as keeping Toon Link's distance from his opponents.
Nairdrawing
This refers to SHFF Nairing with Toon Link and then QD'ing. This is very good because of how the moves string together, and if done right, stalls the opponent for future comboing. QD'ing can also be done with fairs.
Short Hop Double Arrows
Another technique is SHDA, which causes Toon Link to shoot two arrows at pretty much the same time. To SHDA, the player must SH, quickly press the special button to shoot an arrow, tap it again as soon as the player can, and the resulting Quickdraw causes two arrows flying essentially simultaneously.
