The results screen is a screen that appears in all Smash Bros. games. It shows the results of a match, or a completed Classic mode or Subspace Emissary stage (the latter only in Super Smash Bros. Brawl).
Types of results screens
Victory screen
This is shown at the end of a match. It shows who won the match, the number of points obtained and lost (taking shape as KOs and falls), the number of SD's, and in later games, the distance walked, jumped, swum, launched, and various other statistics. The results screen has been altered between games. In Super Smash Bros., the results screen has a sky with realistic clouds and a checkerboard pattern floor; In Super Smash Bros. Melee, the results screen was altered to a black background. In addition, the losers are now shown in the lower box on the character data screen rather than being in the background. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it has been made very similar to the original's. It now shows the placements of the match based on their distance from the main screen. For example, the 2nd place player would be closer to the screen than the 3rd place player. While the results screens in all three games changed in designs, they all have the same role: displaying the victor(s) and other combatants of the match. The winner will do their victory pose here, while the losers will be at the back, clapping their hands (except for some characters like Jigglypuff, Ice Climbers, Mewtwo, Diddy Kong and Pokémon Trainer).
Types of Victory Screens
Super Smash Bros.
A checkered area with a color that depends on which player won. P1 and red team: red P2 and blue team: blue P3: yellow P4 and green team: green
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Main area
A black Background.
Loser windows
Loser windows are different colors and show the losing character in a small insert as opposed to the background.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
A desert-like area where the winner does a victory pose in front of the camera while the losers are seen clapping in the background.
Classic mode
This results screen shows the number of points/coins obtained in each fight. It has a shot of the player character or, if the player character is offscreen, an ally or a view of the whole stage fought on. The amount of coins showed on the screen depends on the number of points obtained.
Stage complete
This screen is shown after a stage of the Subspace Emissary has been completed. It shows the trophies, CD's and stickers collected while playing, as well as the number of obtained points and coins.
Music
The music of all results screens is Results Display Screen, listed under the Super Smash Bros. Brawl section in the Sound Test. On the victory screen of a match, the winning character's victory fanfare is played first before the results music.
