Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.

The three mysterious enemy teams fight it out. Which set of punching bags has the bigger team spirit?

Round 134: Donkey Kong (75 m) vs. Birdo (Mushroom Kingdom II)

75m.png
Winner!!
Donkey Kong (75 m)
75m.png

14 to 9
Birdo.png
Old-school enemies launching projectiles as pixellated as they are. Does the ancient ape or transgendered tubeface come out on top?

Votes for Donkey Kong (75 m)

  1. Donkey Kong wins, without a doubt. He has teh barrels of doom! Also, I'm not really into transvestites. Hawk 21PSIWolf sig 1.pngTalk 23:16, 13 April 2012 (EDT)
  2. If PoD posts that image of Birdo one more fucking time... --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 23:19, 13 April 2012 (EDT)
  3. ..... The StarCraft NintenNESsprite.png 23:22, 13 April 2012 (EDT)
  4. He is much more powerful. Even though I hate 75m, Donkey Kong gets my vote. MeleeMarth01 MM01Sig.png 00:07, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  5. Mario's first enemy or a transvestite Yoshi (not that I hate him) with a leech coming out of its mouth. No contest there. King KirbyD KingKirbyD.png 00:43, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  6. DK can damage without projectiles, probably cuz he's too epic! ShupaRoeh (talk) 10:30, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  7. Birdo is kind of odd...110.174.90.69 11:21, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  8. I've played both games, I find Birdo definitely more annoying..71.48.126.230 17:02, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  9. Honestly, we can all agree DK doesn't do anything, but pound his chest, but if you touch him, he deals damage. NOTHING MORE TO SAY. Period!99.235.62.184 21:07, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  10. DK can't be KOed, but Birdo can. So DK is more powerful and the stage 75m is also not bad.Stranger 1260 Master Ball.png 06:29, 16 April 2012 (EDT)
  11. DK got made into a playable character, and Birdo wasn't. What does that tell you? Meta Ike MetaIke.png 19:36, 17 April 2012 (EDT)
  12. I love the concept of the 75m stage but hate the playability of it... XD Anyway, Donkey (or supposedly Cranky) Kong is quite awesome indeed, and his coolness is further enhanced by the fact that fighters can't damage him on the stage. And at least he doesn't induce gender confusion on the masses like certain other characters we know. -.- *turns away from the big, gaping black-hole-of-a-mouth that Birdo possesses* (Also, if you want to be technical about it, Donkey/Cranky Kong gets even more awesome by cameoing in two stages within one game!) 72.3.33.7 16:21, 19 April 2012 (EDT)
  13. Easily. AccoolX File:Accoolx.png 16:33, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

Half votes

  1. Birdo can easily be destroyed by a strong attack and her projectiles only go in straight lines. Donkey Kong can't be destroyed, his projectiles are more active than Birdo's, and he's overall more nostalgic. My reason for voting for the 8-bit ape over Birdo. toadat9021doh 20:15, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
  2. Go Donkey Kong! Insert non-formatted text here —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dinoboy411 (talkcontribs) 14:10, 19 April 2012 (EDT)

Votes for Birdo (Mushroom Kingdom II)

  1. "That's as far as you go." 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 00:10, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  2. "I'm gonna finish you off!" Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 08:40, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  3. I've never played SMB2. I had the misfortune of playing 75m in Donkey Kong. :( 24.168.92.118 09:36, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  4. Unlike most people, I actually liked the American version of SMB2. --Fireemblemlogo.pngFan275 10:24, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  5. Much easier hazard in the stage. Donkey Kong's springs get annoying. And at least Birdo can be hit to draw her away. LightningBlue: LBPeep LB Peep.png 10:53, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
  6. 204.191.132.218 12:11, 14 April 2012 (EDT)
