:I think I can explain why the kirby characters do get the spotlight, I remember reading somewhere (can't remember where, but it might have been on this wiki) that the guy who was responsible for writing the SSE, or some such, is also the head guy from the kirby series, or something like that, and that's why the kirby series has such a big role. As for the star fox universe, perhaps a similar reason might explain it, but also what Omega Tyrant said, about the only bosses being wolf and andross (Although it might have been interesting to face the assist trophy as a boss). And to be fair, the actual playable characters do get a decent amount of play time in the SSE, including that annoyingly long swamp level, and the Great Fox plays a not insubstantial role in the story. Other than that, though, it might just be a coincidence? OK, first, I'll tell you some events in SSE that happened to big universes (ex: Mario, Kirby, Metroid, etc.) The Mario universe get Petey Piranha as a boss, then Bowser and Wario as the one who have the Dark Cannon. Zelda universe have Ganondorf as the one who freed Master Hand, plus as one of Tabuu's henchmen. Metroid universe have Ridley and Meta Ridley as bosses. Kirby universe's characters have big job. Kirby, always appeared from first to last. King Dedede, made the Dedede brooches (is the spelling true?) that save the day. Meta Knight, his ship Halberd get a lot of attention because Halberd is the ship that taken over by the Subspace Army. Even kirby universe doesn't have any boss, their big job give them special attention. Earthbound universe, have Porky as the boss. Pokemon universe get Rayquaza as the boss. Fire Emblem have Ike as the one who the only one can disarm the Subspace Bomb. I think that big universe is the one that have lot of playable character (exception with Earthbound and Fire Emblem) and known quite well in the world. And I categorized Wario, Yoshi, and DK universe into Mario universe. But, why Starfox doesn't have bosses??? Kirbythe Amazing 05:00, 3 May 2011 (EDT)
- Maybe because Star Fox games are very difficult? I NEVER learn to control that Arwing!--Wolf rulez! Playtime's over! 05:06, 3 May 2011 (EDT)
- There are other characters and universes that get less than what the starfox universe does.--Shaun's Wiji Dodo talk 06:03, 3 May 2011 (EDT)
- If you noticed, all of the boss characters in SSE not created for Smash Bros. are recurring bosses in their series (a boss that appears in multiple games in the series). There are two recurring bosses I can think of in Star Fox, Andross and Star Wolf. The former is an assist trophy, so that likely kept him from being a boss. The latter is a team not suitable for a SSE boss (whose leader is a playable character anyway). So if I'm correct about the developers choosing SSE bosses based on them being recurring bosses, the qualifying characters from Star Fox had other roles in Smash Bros. already, thus keeping them from being given a boss role (keep in mind this is speculating, and I don't pass this off as definite fact).
