Y hallo thar, young one...

I see you've become a regular contributer. Welcome to SmashWiki! (Like above) And keep up the work. (Jus' felt like talking. (Oh, and I'm TBB, and I like... to... do... Stuff!*cough*iliketopwnpeople*cough*) Anyways, hi! ~Teh Blue Blur~~You're too slow!~ 09:53, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

"Young one"? This from someone whose profile clearly states that they're minus two months old? Anyway, thanks, and "hi!" back. Oh, and call me PoD. Penguin sounds... like a Batman villain... PenguinofDeath 15:21, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I get'cha. The "young one" part was kinda a joke. Well, if you think about it, you're kinda new here, so I guess that does kinda make some sense. ~Teh Blue Blur~~You're too slow!~ 17:27, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Just curious

Okay, I looked at your comment on the Smash Arena which raised a question for me: What's your opinion of a "good" game? I mean, are you aware that Super Mario Galaxy sold over 8 million copies and every Publication review (like GameSpot, GameSpy, GamesRader, Edge, Allgame, etc.) gave it at least 90% on the score? If that's not a good game, I don't know what is, so I'm just curious as to what your opinion of a "good" game is. Enigmatic Mr. L (talk) 21:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

You presumed that I was being objective. I wasn't, I simply don't like any of the recent Mario games. Take Super Mario Sunshine, for example. <opinion> That had no plot whatsoever, and the height of gameplay was going round with F.L.U.D.D. cleaning up graffiti. Mario64, though I didn't especially like the style of gameplay in that either, was at least slightly better. It was also one of the first two games to be in 3D (the other being The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and they were in 2.5D but whatever), but it looks pretty much the same as all the games that came after it. Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Sunshine have the same old gameplay (roughly), so look like cheap sequels. Evolution of gameplay is what makes games great. For example: the Legend of Zelda series; the Age of Empires series (except AoE III and the expansions because they had way too much new stuff in them); Sid Meier's Civilisation series; of course, the Super Smash Bros. series. If there's no originality in a game, it's not a good game, it's an old game. Unless it's shamelessly a continuation, like Golden Sun: The Lost Age which wasn't as good as Golden Sun but which was still an amazing game even though it had identical gameplay. However, if they were to release Golden Sun 3, Golden Sun 4 and Golden Sun 5 at any point, the gameplay would have to change or no one would be buying by the time Golden Sun 5 came out. </opinion>
That was kinda rambling... Meh. I think I got my point(s) across. Your turn. PenguinofDeath 22:09, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Ouch, big comment. ~Teh Blue Blur~~You're too slow!~ 17:28, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Defiant Elements won't think it's a big comment... :'( He writes big comments.
The thought occurs, TBB, that you haven't yet voiced your opinion (which would be valued highly) on my RfR... PenguinofDeath 17:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

You're actually incorrect about SMG. It retains the gameplay from SM64, and adds new elements like different powerups (except Fire Mario, although it's the first time it's been in 3D), a different spin jump, new enemies, etc. But that's not the reason I'm here. I apologize for not replying to your comment earlier, but I couldn't edit this Wiki for some reason, something to do with maintenance? Anyways, I already had my reply done: The IPs are sockpuppets, meaning that they are all the same person. I reverted that guy's edits sometime last year, and he said he wanted to Brawl me. I told him I would with a condition that if I win, he'd stop vandalizing. I recommended he tried making useful edits after I beat him, but the guy's an idiot. He doesn't know what useful is, or he's just nothing but a vandal. Anyways, he just won't stop, and keeps telling me when he's made an edit or that he wants to Brawl (I deleted him quite a while ago, so I have no interest whatsoever in brawling him). The users I know have gotten used to it and just revert his edits and block him. As for people that vandalize my Userpage, well, that happens to everybody. I hope that answers your question. MarioGalaxyMay Guthix be with you... 17:58, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

New elements like powerups, jumps and enemies don't really count... Like Twilight Princess was largely a remake of Ocarina of Time even though most of the characters and the specific plot (but not the general plot) had been changed. But yeah, I now kinda take it back. I've been told that he's been in lots of good games, and that I was being horribly subjective, even for a forum page...
One game series that didn't get better as they went along, simply because they added too much extra stuff, is the Pokémon series. They should do a remake of Red/Blue for the Wii, but make it a 3D world that you can walk about freely in. Of course Pokémon battles would have to still be random, and you'd still get no warning before one started. But only if they had the original 151 Pokémon (you'd unlock Mew by catching every other Pokémon), and only if you could catch every Pokémon in every game. And you could use the Wi-Fi for the linked battles. It would be the greatest game ever. And I will demand a fortune in royalties if they make it. PenguinofDeath 22:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Can't blame the guy

Don't blame developers for giving Sonic little to no finishing moves. They had to balance his speed to power. He still has Super Sonic :D

Brawling?

I read that you like people who can't beat you with three fingers BUT can ask you nicely. Thus, do you want to? FC: 1247-5080-9379 Nickname:KAKE Chocolatepie (talk) 18:44, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm really sorry, but my Wii's occupied at the moment. My dad recently discovered Anno, which is like a cross between Age of Empires and Civilisation, and he spends a lot of time playing that. I haven't brawled for about a week now... I'll get back to you. If I can't get on today (UTC), I'll definitely be free between about 08:00 and 11:00 UTC tomorrow. Will you be free then? Vandalism

Nice work! Your contributions reflect the kind of awesome work we SmashWikidians like to see!
Nice work combating all that Vandalism, you deserve this! - Hatake91 (talk) 19:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Sorry About that

Thanks for the welcome, and sorry about that slight mishap, it has been changed: --DarkBrawler I am Victorious! 20:32, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

You have absolutely nothing to apologise for - I did the same thing when I first made my signature, but an admin pointed me in the direction of the SW:SIGN page and I fixed it like you did. Everyone makes at least one mistake with their signature at first. Don't worry about it. PenguinofDeath 21:08, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

IRC

I am on the IRC channel for most of the day, and should be for the rest of today (though I cannot guarentee I won't be afk). During the week, I'm on starting about 3 PM EDT, if you can't make it today. To actually get on IRC, go to [1], choose a nick that you want to use while on IRC (probably something similar to your username), select "#wikia-smashbros" from the channel dropdown list, and hit login. (If it tells you that that nick is already in use, hit back on your browser window and select a new one until you find one that isn't in use.) If I'm in the channel (all the users in the channel are listed on the right), type my name to make my client notify me that you're there. --Shadowcrest 16:27, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

May I Ask Why...

...You reverted the edit made by 66.130.138.174 to Legion of Smash? Personally, I have no way of verifying the edit, and I presume you don't either, but the page in question also happens to have been created by an IP, so it's not as though we're dealing with a Smasher page for a smasher who's also a user here. – Defiant Elements +talk 17:02, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I undid my undo - it could be correct. However, I'm still dubious about it. I have no idea how their knowledge of the matter is limited to "LOS died", as I would have thought that some freak accident that killed six people would have made at least local, if not national, news. Unless they mean "disbanded" which is far more likely. Either way, same as you, I have no way of verifying the edit. In my defense, it seems like a weird thing to say and the IP that created the page isn't the one that just made the edit. PenguinofDeath 17:19, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
I too presume that they meant "died" to be a synonym for "disbanded." It's hard to know what to do when people who have no apparent connection to a smasher or a crew make edits to articles about that smasher or that crew, but people've generally been given a great deal of latitude to edit those pages simply because it's very difficult to verify a lot of what's written on them. And you are correct about the IPs being different, which is why I edited my post above. – Defiant Elements +talk 17:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I got a question for you

Hey, dude, I got a question to ask you: did you like Sonic '06 (360/PS3), or not?

I'm asking this question because if I'd ask another Sonic fan, they'd hate it, probably. And since your a Sonic fan, I'm just curious to know. Please let me know sooner or later. PurpleDarkness (talk) 01:41, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

It sort of crushed my spirit a bit... I mean, why do people hate this game? Because Sonic isn't "fast enough"? C'mon, Sonic can't be the same guy you first expierienced in 1991, he needs to EVOLVE, something that every video game character has to do. For instance, Mario or Link. Do you still like them even though they've changed? PurpleDarkness (talk) 01:41, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Dude, I had a guy who said almost said the same, except he said "The only way to help Sonic is stop buying his games. You deserve more than what you're getting". But that, to me, made NO sense whatsoever. How does "help" him? By getting him and SEGA bankrupt? Well, no, that's not the answer to it all, and I don't really care what those "Sonic fans" say, it doesn't help. I know, I know, "This coming the Sonic fanboy, who mains him in Brawl, and plays his WORST GAMES OF ALL TIME", I get that a lot. But, that doesn't let me down. As a matter of fact, that actually en-lightens me, because these people who pick on me said "LOL, dude Sonic sucks epiclly because he just fails at life". But, back to the subject. Not buying his games or not letting SEGA/Sonic Team make a Sonic game for a while doesn't help, because it leaves Sonic BANKRUPT. PurpleDarkness (talk) 01:41, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

HEY

check out my page Falconpawnch 20:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Why? PenguinofDeath 20:35, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I didn't know about that forum, and I didn't know there was a such problem that people are removing unintentionally images from pages. Why it's so? At least I'm not one of them. Sorry if it was offensive, I thought it was vandalism. Firewario (talk) 08:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Fake Picture

The file in question is "Linkje.png"
Hey, if you click pictures, and go to either the 4th, or 5th page after typing in "Link", there is this guy wearing a green shirt who has nothing to do with link. Is that supposed to be there?--Shade Link (talk) 18:55, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it is supposed to be there. If you look at the File Links section on the file's page it tells you the name of every page that has that image on it. It is currently being used on my talk page (of course) and a page called "Smasher:Linkje". Linkje is a Dutch professional smasher, so it's appropriate that there's a picture of him.
If the File Links section says "no pages link to this file", simply place a delete tag on the page with {{d|unused}}. This tags the image so that it is brought to attention of the administrators who will then delete it if necessary. PenguinofDeath 20:11, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Ah, now i see. I have been a member of wikia for a while, but i am not an admin. At least now i know.--Shade Link (talk) 00:20, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

1 and 2 buttons = smash?

"If 1 and 2 are pressed together when playing with the Wii Remote held sideways, your character does not perform a side smash attack." I'm sorry, this is pretty minor. Anyways, about that 1+2=smash thing, I'm sorry if I slightly irritated you with that. I thought that because a page on this wiki says so, the default control scheme says so, and even the official website says so. Again, sorry about that, even if I wasn't wrong. --SSRider 22:39, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

I tested it, and it doesn't work for me. I mistakenly presumed that meant that you were incorrect, ignoring the large chance that I was doing it wrong. I've changed it back. PenguinofDeath 22:49, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Eh, no big deal. I don't like to hold grudges, especially over minor stuff. But thanks for changing it back anyway! --SSRider 00:21, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Re:Snapshots

  • Insert an SD card into the Wii.
  • Go to the "Album" section of Brawl.
  • Copy a snapshot to the SD card.
  • Take the SD card out and put it into your computer.
  • Upload your snapshot here
  • Upload the converted image to SmashWiki.

You also need the holy SD card reader for your computer - Hatake91 (talk) 18:20, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

What you missed

Since you are one of Smashwiki's most active contributors here, I figured you might want to know if anything important happened while you were gone. Here's a summary of important events:

Shadowcrest's RfB passed soon after you left. He passed my succesful rfr. The Smash Arena is (according to GalaxiaD) officially dead (it took almost four weeks to change that Peach vs. DDD fight). Speaking of GalaxiaD, he is no longer a supporter of Brawl, saying "Brawl sucks :D." Blue Ninjakoopa has been banned (by Shadowcrest) again, and this time it's the BIG one. The progressing cleanup is coming along nicely. All pros/cons are now attributes, some of the "Changes from Melee to Brawl" sections have been changed, and I've moved trivia into the main article (thus reducing the need for using the trivia template) on some Brawl fighters' pages.

And that's about it... I think. Yeah, it's not much, but I still felt you might want to know. Enigmatic Mr. L 18:33, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon (game)

What was wrong with my edit to Pokémon (game)? Aurumsmash (talk) 16:33, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Nothing was wrong with it... I just merged "Red and Blue have subsequently been remade for the Game Boy Advance as FireRed and LeafGreen." and "In Fire Red and Leaf Green the goal was generally te same but with a few new additions to explore." to make "Red and Blue have subsequently been remade for the Game Boy Advance as FireRed and LeafGreen, which had virtually identical gameplay, but with a few new areas to explore." so that there was less repetition in the paragraph. I didn't revert your edit, and I'm sorry if you felt that I removed what you had just added. In fact, I thought that it was a good edit, which added valuable information to the article.
