The glitch can be done in any mode where DK can grab a computer opponent and is easiest to perform if DK throws the opponent off a nearby edge.

How to perform
Select DK on a stage (preferably Final Destination), and select a computer character for the opponent. Set the damage ratio to 0.5 before the match. Next, have to computer stand next to the edge with you, grab the opponent with DK, and throw the opponent off the edge, afterwards, quickly grab the opponent again. If done correctly, the computer will never break free, even if the computer is turned invincible by a Starman while in DK's arms. However, the opponent will break free if something happens to DK (explosion, turned giant, turned small, etc).

The DK Grab Glitch is a glitch involving Donkey Kong and another character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. If the damage ratio of a match is 0.5, and DK grabs, throws, and quickly re-grabs a computer opponent before it touches the ground, the computer opponent will never break free by itself, even if it becomes invincible; they can only break free when DK decides to throw them or he is affected by something (getting attacked, changing size, and so on). The glitch can be done in any mode where DK can grab a computer opponent and is easiest to perform if DK throws the opponent off a nearby edge.
