In every Super Smash Bros. game so far, Kirby has had the ability to copy any other characters' standard-special move with his Neutral-B attack (Inhale)). It does not work on other Kirby's, however. When Kirby copies one of his opponents, he will also bear a resemblance of that character in the form of a hat of some kind, which usually show a prominent part of the character copied.

Kirby can choose to discard the ability at any time by using one of his taunts, though he may also lose it when taking damage. Here is what Kirby looks like when he copies the other characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

When Kirby inhales Captain Falcon, Kirby receives his helmet as well as the Falcon Punch attack, complete with an amusing imitation of the "Falcon Punch!" shout. Like Captain Falcon, Kirby can perform a Reverse Falcon Punch.

Diddy Kong

Standard Special Move: Peanut Popgun

When Kirby inhales Diddy Kong, he will wear Diddy's cap and acquires the power to use Diddy's Peanut Popgun.

Donkey Kong

Standard Special Move: Giant Punch

When Kirby inhales Donkey Kong, Kirby acquires a special Donkey Kong suit, and gains the special move Giant Punch. Kirby resembles a coconut in this form, possibly resembling those in the Kirby series that drop from trees, or it is sometimes interpreted as a Waddle Dee. Just like Donkey Kong, when Kirby uses this move in midair, he will become helpless after executing this move.

Falco Lombardi

Standard Special Move: Blaster (Falco)

When Kirby inhales Falco, Kirby gains Falco's Blaster as well as feathers on his head, a beak, and red coloring around his eyes.

Fox McCloud

When Kirby inhales Fox, Kirby has the power to shoot with Fox's Blaster. He also gains Fox's ears and his special headpiece Fox uses to communicate with his team mates.

Ganondorf

Standard Special Move: Warlock Punch

When Kirby inhales Ganondorf, he gains the ability to use Warlock Punch, complete with big red hair with sideburns, an amulet on his head, and a pointed headband. Interestingly enough, after absorbing a character such as Ganondorf, Kirby's large eyebrows make his eyes seem perpetually angry. Kirby can also use a Reverse Warlock Punch.

Ice Climbers (Popo & Nana)

Standard Special Move: Ice Shot

When Kirby inhales either Popo or Nana he gains the ability to use Ice Shot. Complete with a blue parka covering his whole body, Kirby resembles Freeze Kirby from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.

Ike

Standard Special Move: Eruption

When Kirby inhales Ike, he will be able to use the powerful move Eruption. He will also gain Ike's headband and hairstyle.

Jigglypuff (Purin)

Standard Special Move: Rollout

When Kirby inhales Jigglypuff, he gains the ability to use Rollout, with pointy ears and a swirly tuft of hair making him look similar to Clefairy. Unlike other Kirby hats, the hairstyle is the same color as Kirby, rather than Jigglypuff pink.

Note: Kirby will say "Puuuu!" when its Rollout is fully charged instead of "Jiggly!", even when the language is English.

King Dedede

Standard Special Move: Inhale

When Kirby inhales King Dedede, his Inhale move works at longer range. This is the only way to perform the obscure, and arguably unnecessary, "Kirkirkircide." King Dedede's headpiece also becomes Kirby's to wear.

Standard Special Move: Hero's Bow

When Kirby inhales Link, he gains the ability to use Link's Hero's Bow. After Kirby has successfully copied Link, he will also wear Link's green hood.

Note: This Kirby looks exactly like Sword Kirby, minus the actual Sword (unless using Final Cutter) and the ball on the end of the cap. This is perfectly normal, as Sword Kirby's appearance seems to be a reference to Link.

Lucario

Standard Special Move: Aura Sphere

When Kirby inhales Lucario, he gains a hat that resembles Lucario as well as the ability to charge and throw Aura Spheres.

Note: Kirby's Aura Sphere won't increase in power when Kirby is at a high percentage, unlike Lucario's ability.

Lucas

Standard Special Move: PK Freeze

When Kirby inhales Lucas, he gains the Lucas' stylish hairdo along with his icy PK Freeze. This move will put Kirby in a helpless state when used in the air. He also imitates the way that Lucas says "PK Freeze!"

Luigi

When Kirby inhales Luigi, he gains the Fireball power that Luigi has. Kirby gains Luigi's distinct cap he has worn over the years.

Mario

When Kirby inhales Mario, he receives the power to use Mario's Fireball. Kirby also gains Mario's distinct cap he has worn over the years.

Marth

When Kirby inhales Marth, he gains the ability to use Shield Breaker along with Marth's tuft of blue hair.

Note: When Kirby inhales Marth, his tufts of hair is longer than Marth's for unknown reasons.

Meta Knight

Standard Special Move: Mach Tornado

When Kirby inhales Meta Knight, Kirby will be able to use Mach Tornado. He also gains Meta Knight's mask, the Galaxia Sword, and a pair of bat wings similar to Meta Knight's. Kirby will revert to a helpless state if used in the air or if it doesn't touch the ground before finishing.

Note: There is some comical irony in Kirby's appearance here, as Meta Knight without his mask is revealed to look exactly like Kirby, but with different colors and a scowl.

Mr. Game & Watch

Features Obtained: Entirely black with gray outline, and white eyes and mouth.

Standard Special Move: Chef

When Kirby inhales Mr. Game & Watch, he becomes a black version of himself with a gray outline. He can launch food-based projectiles at his foes using Chef. Kirby and the pan are 3-D though, unlike Mr. Game & Watch.

Ness

Standard Special Move: PK Flash

When Kirby inhales Ness, Kirby will be able to use PK Flash, and he sports Ness's baseball cap. Kirby actually pronounces 'Flash' clearly. This move will put Kirby in a helpless state when used in the air.


Note: Kirby wears Ness' hat backwards despite Ness wearing it forwards, a reference to him wearing backwards caps as Wheel Kirby, Yo-Yo Kirby, and Paint Kirby (the latter two only appearing in Kirby Super Star and its remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra).

Captain Olimar

Standard Special Move: Pikmin Pluck/Pikmin Throw

When Kirby inhales Olimar, he'll get Olimar's nose and helmet antenna. He will also get the ability to do two different special moves, which is unique among Kirby hats (As Pikmin Pluck would be useless for Kirby by itself). He first uses Pikmin Pluck to get a Pikmin, and immediately uses Pikmin Throw. The Pikmin act only as projectiles which do not latch on to the opponent, and die upon contact with the ground. Interestingly, Olimar Kirby's nose is larger than one of his arms.

Princess Peach

Standard Special Move: Toad

When Kirby inhales Peach, he sports an adorable crown from the Princess. He is able to use Toad to block and counter attacks.

Pikachu

Standard Special Move: Thunder Jolt

When Kirby inhales Pikachu, he gets a Pikachu hat that features Pikachu's tail, face, and ears. Kirby is granted the ability to use Thunder Jolt from his own cheeks, just like Pikachu. Kirby will also do an imitation of Pikachu's cry when using Thunder Jolt.

Pit

Standard Special Move: Palutena's Arrow

When Kirby inhales Pit, he will be granted Palutena's Arrow to shoot at opponents. Pit's headpiece and wings will now be on Kirby. Kirby will also, for unknown reasons, squeak when he fires an arrow.

Note: It resembles Cupid Kirby, a Kirby copy ability where Kirby can fly around and shoot arrows.

Pokémon Trainer

Charizard

If Kirby inhales Charizard , he gets a unique Charizard hat. He will also be granted special move Flamethrower.


Ivysaur

Standard Special Move: Bullet Seed

When Kirby inhales Ivysaur, he gets an Ivysaur hat that mainly displays Ivysaur's bulb and ears. As such, he is able to use Bullet Seed.


Squirtle

Standard Special Move: Water Gun

When Kirby inhales Squirtle, he will bear a special Squirtle hat that features Squirtle's shell and tail. Now, Kirby has the ability to use Water Gun.

R.O.B.

Standard Special Move: Robo Beam

When Kirby inhales R.O.B., he gains his sensory goggles as well as the blinking light on his head that tells him when the Robo Beam is fully charged. When upon executing this attack, Kirby says "BEEP" in a generic, robotic monotone voice.

Note: This ability works very similarly to Laser Kirby.

Samus Aran

Standard Special Move: Charge Shot

When Kirby inhales Samus, he will be able to use Samus's Charge attack, which he charges with his bare hands. He wears Samus's power suit as well.

Sheik

When Kirby inhales Sheik, he will gain the ability to perform Needle Storm as well as attaining Sheik's headwrap and hair.

Snake

Standard Special Move: Hand Grenade

When Kirby inhales Snake, he gets a goatee & headband as well as being able to throw grenades. Wearing the Snake 'hat' when using Cook Kirby makes for a rather humorous-looking bearded chef appearance.

Note: Like Snake, Kirby will cover his ears...or where his ears would be when the grenade explodes near him.

Sonic

When Kirby inhales Sonic, he gets the hedgehog's stylish quills as well as the ability to use Sonic's Homing Attack.

When Kirby inhales Wario, he will sport a biker helmet worn by Wario himself. He will also be able to use the special move Chomp. This is the only way to perform the very obscure "Kirbiocide."

Note If Kirby inhales Wario while in his overalls look, Kirby will still get his newer biker hat, not Wario's classic yellow "W" cap.

Wolf

When Kirby inhales Wolf, he obtains Wolf's Blaster as well as Wolf's scouter and ears.

Yoshi

When Kirby inhales Yoshi, he obtains a Yoshi hat as well as the ability to use Egg Lay. Oddly enough, Kirby's tongue stays, leaving Kirby with 2 tongues.

Princess Zelda

When Kirby inhales Zelda, he will sport her old headpiece from past Zelda games. He will also have the power to reflect projectiles with his new special move Nayru's Love, and make a distinctive "Haaaahhh!" sound when he does the technique.

Zero Suit Samus
