Kanto as seen in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

Kanto is a fictional region that appears in the Pokémon universe. The Kanto region houses the original 151 Pokémon plus various other Pokémon in the future games, and is also where Ash and his friends venture through for the original Pokémon anime series. The handheld games Pokémon Red & Blue, and Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen all take place in Kanto. In Pokémon Gold & Silver, players may travel to Kanto after defeating the Elite Four.

The Kanto region has also played a part in the Super Smash Bros. series. All of the Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. and most of the Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. Melee come from the Kanto region. Additionally, Pokémon-themed stages in the Super Smash Bros. series take place in Kanto. These stages are as follows: Saffron City (from Super Smash Bros.); Pokémon Stadium, Poké Floats (both from Super Smash Bros. Melee, although the latter is technically designated as being located in "Kanto Skies"); and Pokémon Stadium (from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, although it is the Melee version).
