Super Smash Con is a tournament series and convention held annually in the MD/VA region. It's considered one of the largest and most prestigious tournament series in competitive Smash.
Description
Super Smash Con is one of the only tournament series that hosts brackets for every single Super Smash Bros. title. While the tournament has always had large entrant numbers for both Melee and the newest Smash title, it has also become the most prestigious Smash 64 tournament, and is one of the only annual majors for Brawl and (since Ultimate's release) Smash 4. In the past, the tournament has run an event called "Smash Masters", where invited players compete across multiple Smash titles to determine the "best overall Super Smash Bros. player".
Super Smash Con is uniquely branded as both a tournament and a convention, and shares many features commonly found at gaming and anime conventions, including cosplay contests and a large array of gaming-related vendors. It also hosts the "Smashies Awards", an annual ceremony dedicated to recognizing the achievements and contributions of Smash community members.
One of the tournament’s most well-known events is the annual Smash 64 Combo Contest, first hosted in 2016. Contestants showcase their combos in front of a panel of judges, aiming to score the highest number of points. Prince has won the contest four times out of five events total.
