It took place on December 22nd, 2014, at the GameWorks Las Vegas. DVDA 5 was one of the earliest large Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournaments and was the largest at the time (with 220 players), until it was surpassed nearly a month later by Final Battle's 252 entrants. The live stream was handed by New Meta Stream in collaboration with VGBootCamp.
