Otori (おおとり, "Phoenix"), sometimes spelled as Ootori, is a Meta Knight player from Shimane, Japan. Though he had participated in many tournaments in Japan, such as the Numabura series, his first tournament win was at Apex 2012, the largest Brawl tournament of all time. In singles, he didn't drop a set, defeating ESAM 2-0, Ally 3-0, Nairo 3-2, and Nietono 3-1. He also won doubles with his twin brother Kakera, defeating Mew2King and Anti 3-2 in both winners' finals and grand finals.
Otori returned to defend his titles next year at Apex 2013, but lost to Salem 0-2 early in winners' bracket. He swept through losers' bracket, defeating Tyrant 2-0, Vinnie 2-0, 9B 2-0, Dabuz 2-1, Mikeneko 2-0, and Nairo 3-2, to make it to losers' finals. However, he was eliminated by Mew2King 2-3, ending his run at 3rd place. In doubles, he placed 5th with Abadango, losing to eventual champions Nairo and ADHD 0-3 in winners' semis, and then to FOW and MJG 0-2 in losers' quarters. For his achievements, he was ranked 4th on the 2014 SSBBRank.

Trivia
- Otori had never won any tournaments (including locals) prior to his Apex 2012 victory; a similar scenario happened during the following year with Apex 2013 being the first tournament Salem ever won, though Salem did end up winning numerous tournaments in Smash 4 including EVO 2017.
- Furthermore, Otori and acola are the only two international players who won the first American major they attended.
