A common scenario in which a player might Azendash is while attempting to [[edgehog]] via wavedash. When a player fails to wavedash correctly, their character does not grab the edge and dies off the bottom of the stage.

This problem has been fixed in [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]. Instead of being immobile after air dodging, a character returns to it's normal state, ready to attack, jump, and recover directly after.  


This term comes affectionately from [[Azen]], who often committed suicide by Azendashing.
